Dubai, UAE – H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, has issued new directives to elevate the Dubai Civil Defence to the highest international benchmarks in community protection and safety.

During his visit to the General Command of Dubai Civil Defence, Sheikh Hamdan emphasized that the safety of people and their assets is a top priority for Dubai’s leadership. He instructed the Executive Council of Dubai to oversee all measures and initiatives required to achieve this strategic goal, ensuring Dubai remains a global example of security and protection.

Upon his arrival, Sheikh Hamdan was warmly received by Lieutenant General Expert Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Civil Defence, along with senior officers and directors from various sub-departments.

Reviewing Dubai Civil Defence’s Strategic Vision

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan reviewed the General Command’s Strategic Framework and Drivers of a Sustainable Future for the Safety of Life and Property 2033. This strategy is designed to enhance Dubai’s leadership in civil defence services and ensure a sustainable future that meets the highest international standards.

The strategy includes modern initiatives such as:

  • Deploying smart sensors to study behavioral patterns in emergency situations.
  • Adopting sustainable infrastructure and equipment.
  • Introducing advanced technological tools to improve response efficiency.

Sheikh Hamdan praised the civil defence team for their crucial role in protecting the community. He highlighted that their work extends beyond emergency response, creating an integrated system of safety aligned with Dubai’s vision for a safer, more sustainable future.

He noted that civil defence services are essential in raising public awareness, promoting a culture of safety, and prioritizing prevention as a key part of development.

Excellence in Dubai Civil Defence Services

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan said, “The Dubai Civil Defence team has shown exceptional competence and readiness, helping make Dubai one of the safest cities in the world. Their advanced systems, innovative technology, and skilled personnel represent a model of excellence and commitment to global standards.”

He added, “We are dedicated to continuously investing in Dubai Civil Defence, enhancing its capabilities, and ensuring it remains a trusted global benchmark for rapid response, innovative solutions, and the protection of life and property.”

Global Initiatives: ‘Billion Readiness’ and ‘Hope Convoys’

During the visit, Sheikh Hamdan was briefed on several global initiatives launched by Dubai Civil Defence:

  • Billion Readiness: This initiative aims to train and raise awareness among one billion people worldwide about fire risks, causes, and prevention methods.

  • Hope Convoys: Focused on supporting countries with limited resources, this initiative provides modern fire stations, advanced firefighting equipment, rescue tools, and essential safety gear.

These initiatives reflect Dubai’s commitment to global safety, knowledge sharing, and humanitarian support.

Artificial Intelligence and Smart Technology

Sheikh Hamdan also met with artificial intelligence specialists and learned about the latest innovations in firefighting and rescue operations. He was briefed on several high-tech tools:

  • Explorer Robot: A four-legged robot equipped with LiDAR technology that can move autonomously through smoke and create accurate 3D maps of buildings during emergencies.

  • Advanced Robotic Arm: Improves firefighter efficiency by up to 40%, especially when navigating stairs during rescues and firefighting operations.

  • 4500-Wabel Firefighting Robot: Electric-powered, capable of carrying up to 400 kilograms, and designed to support firefighters in complex situations.

  • Shaheen Drone: Developed to extinguish fires in high-rise buildings, enhancing safety and response efficiency.

These tools demonstrate how Dubai is integrating technology and innovation into its civil defence operations to save lives and protect property.

Strengthening Community Safety

Sheikh Hamdan stressed that the leadership places the security of the community and the safety of its people and assets at the forefront of its priorities. He affirmed that all available resources would be mobilized to maintain the highest levels of protection, following global best practices.

He praised the civil defence team for their dedication and skill, highlighting that their readiness and proactive work make Dubai a global model for safety and quality of life.

Building a Culture of Prevention and Awareness

Sheikh Hamdan emphasized that civil defence services are not only about emergency response but also about prevention, awareness, and preparedness. He pointed out that public education and community engagement are vital for creating a sustainable and safe environment.

By fostering a culture of safety, Dubai Civil Defence ensures that prevention becomes a strategic priority and a fundamental pillar of development across the city.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan concluded that Dubai will continue to invest in people, technology, and resources to ensure that civil defence remains a global benchmark.
