New Mohamed Bin Zayed University Campus Opens In Al Dhafra

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, inaugurated the new campus of Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities in Zayed City, Al Dhafra. The opening marks an important milestone in the UAE’s mission to advance higher education and expand access to world-class academic opportunities across all regions of the country.

The new campus aims to provide a vibrant environment for students and scholars to explore subjects in humanities, Islamic studies, and related fields. The event reflects the UAE’s strong belief in education as a foundation for national growth and cultural development.

The launch of the new branch is part of the university’s strategic plan to expand locally. The institution seeks to reach more students in the western regions of the UAE while maintaining academic excellence. By opening this branch in Al Dhafra, the university ensures that young people in the area can access high-quality education without needing to move to distant cities.

This development also aligns with the UAE’s long-term educational goals, which include supporting research, innovation, and cultural understanding in the field of humanities. It further demonstrates the nation’s commitment to developing a generation of educated citizens ready to contribute to future challenges.

During the opening ceremony, Sheikh Hamdan stated that the inauguration of the university’s branch in Zayed City represents a significant step toward strengthening education in the region. He explained that this initiative reflects the UAE’s dedication to providing an exceptional academic atmosphere that encourages intellectual growth and national talent development.

He highlighted that such educational projects not only offer new opportunities for learning but also enrich local communities by building a culture of knowledge, dialogue, and understanding. Sheikh Hamdan praised the efforts of all those who contributed to the establishment of the new campus and called it a promising step toward a brighter future for the youth of Al Dhafra.

Sheikh Hamdan expressed deep appreciation for the continued support of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, whose vision focuses on empowering youth through education. He explained that the university’s new branch reflects the leadership’s commitment to offering the next generation the tools and knowledge needed to build a sustainable and prosperous nation.

He also noted that such initiatives promote values of tolerance, moderation, and responsible citizenship, which form the foundation of the UAE’s national identity. By nurturing well-rounded individuals, the nation continues to ensure that its development is both modern and rooted in moral and cultural principles.

Dr. Mohammed Rashid Al Hameli, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, shared his happiness about the inauguration. He described it as a reflection of the university’s vision to strengthen its academic presence across the country. Dr. Al Hameli added that this new campus supports the UAE’s educational journey by preparing well-qualified national talents equipped with strong ethical and cultural values.

He emphasized that the university aims to be a leading academic institution promoting the principles of tolerance, coexistence, and moderation. These values are deeply connected to the UAE’s humanitarian and cultural approach, which encourages unity among diverse communities.

The Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities was established to serve as a hub for academic excellence, cultural understanding, and moral education. The university offers programs that prepare students to become leaders, educators, and thinkers who contribute positively to society. With the addition of the new Al Dhafra campus, the institution can now reach more students and expand its role in shaping the nation’s educational future.

This development also supports the UAE’s efforts to promote academic research in the fields of Arabic language, philosophy, and Islamic culture. By strengthening education in humanities, the country ensures that modern progress remains deeply connected to its cultural roots.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several Sheikhs, government officials, and education leaders, reflecting the importance the UAE places on academic progress. The guests toured the new facilities, which include advanced classrooms, research spaces, and modern learning technologies designed to support innovative teaching methods.

Attendees expressed pride in witnessing a project that symbolizes the UAE’s dedication to building a knowledge-based and value-driven society. The new campus is expected to become a center for creativity, dialogue, and learning for students in Al Dhafra and beyond.

The opening of the Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities campus in Zayed City represents more than an expansion of academic facilities—it is a testament to the UAE’s unwavering commitment to education, culture, and youth development. By investing in such institutions, the nation continues to pave the way for a generation of educated and responsible citizens who will shape the UAE’s future.

Through this initiative, Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed has reaffirmed the leadership’s belief that education remains the strongest foundation for progress, ensuring that every student in the UAE, regardless of region, has access to opportunities that build both knowledge and character.
