Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was present at the 17th EmiratesSkills National Competition, taking place at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi. The competition, which is organized by the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET), will run until May 20, 2026.
During his visit, Sheikh Khaled explored various exhibition pavilions, evaluating a diverse array of student projects and innovative concepts presented by participants from the UAE. He received updates on essential initiatives and training programs aimed at enhancing national skills and equipping Emirati youth for future job opportunities in significant economic sectors.
The Sheikh commended the creativity and caliber of the showcased projects, noting that the impressive performances of the students signify the growing abilities of UAE youth, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and competitiveness in vocational education.
He reiterated that developing youth skills is a cornerstone of the UAE’s vision, preparing them with modern knowledge and hands-on expertise focused on innovation, digital advancement, and artificial intelligence.
The event also saw the presence of several high-ranking officials, including Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court; Ahmed Tamim Al Kuttab, Chairman of the Department of Government Enablement – Abu Dhabi; and others.
Since its inception in 2006, EmiratesSkills has emerged as a premier national platform for nurturing young talent in technical and vocational disciplines. The current edition marks its 20th anniversary, showcasing two decades of contributions to skills enhancement in the UAE.
The 2026 competition features 37 technical and vocational skill categories, evaluated by over 150 experts and specialists, with 502 male and female students participating, representing the future generation of skilled talent in the nation.
