H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, toured the National Art Expressions exhibition, organized by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK). This event is being held at the Louvre Abu Dhabi park and will run until December 8, 2025, showcasing an impressive array of over 1,500 artworks created by students from schools across Abu Dhabi.
During his tour, Sheikh Khaled explored the exhibition’s various pavilions, each featuring an array of artistic works such as paintings, sculptures, and design creations, highlighting the rich diversity and creativity of the students.
The artworks are categorized into six artistic pathways: Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Literary Arts, Crafts and Folk Arts, Digital Arts, and Applied Arts. These categories exemplify the range of expressions students are learning through both traditional and contemporary artistic forms.
Sheikh Khaled engaged with several young artists, discussing their inspirations and experiences in the creative process. He was impressed with the quality of the pieces and praised the innovative ideas reflected in the students’ work. He expressed that the exhibition showcases the promising potential of youth, enhancing arts and culture within the Abu Dhabi community.
He stressed that nurturing student creativity is vital for developing a thoughtful and imaginative new generation. Sheikh Khaled pointed out that young talents can vividly convey their national culture and identity through art when provided with adequate support and platforms. He emphasized that cultivating creativity fosters confidence among students.
Moreover, Sheikh Khaled remarked that this exhibition aligns with Abu Dhabi’s vision of incorporating arts into education. He highlighted the importance of allowing students to showcase their talents to boost self-esteem and facilitate artistic growth. Such initiatives empower students to take pride in their creations and engage more with the arts.
Accompanying Sheikh Khaled were prominent figures such as Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority; Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi; Sara Awad Musallam, Chairperson of ADEK; and Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
The exhibition is the culmination of a year-long program designed by ADEK, involving over 7,000 students from more than 200 schools. A total of 62 local and international artists mentored these students through workshops and interactive sessions, enriching their artistic skills and creative exploration.
Supported by various cultural institutions, including the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, Louvre Abu Dhabi, and the Ministry of Education, this program has been instrumental in its success. Some key organizations involved include the Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation, the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, the National Library and Archives, and the Authority of Social Contribution - Ma’an.
Now in its third edition, National Art Expressions further solidifies the link between education and culture in Abu Dhabi, offering students meaningful engagement with the UAE’s rich cultural heritage and creative industries. This initiative is a testament to Abu Dhabi’s commitment to nurturing young artistic talent and establishing itself as a premier regional and global hub for arts and cultural excellence.
