Al Wathba to Host Largest New Year Celebration in UAE

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Al Wathba is preparing to host one of the biggest New Year’s Eve celebrations in the UAE and the region as the Sheikh Zayed Festival committee finalizes a special program. The event will feature a 62-minute fireworks display, the largest drone performance in the world, and a mix of cultural and heritage events presented by participating countries, sponsors, and partners. The fireworks show will aim to break five Guinness World Records and will run in five stages from 8 pm until midnight, lighting up the Al Wathba skyline.

The festival will include a groundbreaking drone show with 6,500 drones performing nine giant aerial formations for the first time globally. The show will be synchronized with the countdown and fireworks for an immersive visual experience. Official sponsors and partners will contribute interactive cultural activities, technical support for lighting and drones, and artistic programs to enhance the event.

Visitors can enjoy traditional Emirati performances such as Al Ayala, Al Razfa, and Al Nadooba with hundreds of performers, alongside international groups performing music, parades, and cultural demonstrations. The festival will also offer family-focused programs including children’s shows at the Kids’ Theatre and activities in the new Wonderland entertainment city, which opened in December 2025.

The committee has expanded preparations for large crowds, including more entry and exit gates, wider pedestrian paths, stronger safety and medical support, and field teams to manage visitor flow. Entry will close once full capacity is reached to ensure safety.

The public is advised to follow the festival’s official channels and secure tickets early. The Sheikh Zayed Festival aims to combine tradition, innovation, and global entertainment to create an exceptional atmosphere for welcoming 2026 in Al Wathba.
