Shriya Saran Addresses Identity Theft Concerns

Post by : Meena Hassan

Actor Shriya Saran has expressed her anger upon finding out that an impersonator has been reaching out to individuals under her name. In a social media post, she urged the perpetrator to cease their actions immediately: “Please stop writing to people and wasting time.”

On Wednesday, Shriya shared a screenshot revealing the deceitful phone number that includes her image. She conveyed her frustration, stating, “Whoever this person is, please stop contacting people and wasting their time! Unfortunately, this is bizarre. I feel terrible for the inconvenience they’re causing.”

The star of Drishyam 2 cautioned her followers, explaining that even those she respects have been approached by the impersonator. “This is not me! This isn’t my number! On a lighter side, it’s odd that this person is reaching out to individuals I admire and would love to collaborate with! Why waste your time impersonating someone else? Find your own path instead!” she remarked.

Shriya also took to Instagram Stories to issue a warning: “Scam alert… Fake. Friends have notified me that someone is attempting to impersonate me. Please refrain from using this fake number for any communication or work arrangements. No payments should be made!”

Fans showed their support in the comments, suggesting she report the incident to cybercrime authorities. A concerned fan wrote, “It must be incredibly upsetting to witness someone misusing your name and inconveniencing others. You’ve managed this with such poise—no impersonator can match your grace and integrity.” Others encouraged her to file a formal complaint to ensure the fraud is halted.

Earlier this year, Shriya appeared in a cameo in the Tamil romantic thriller Retro, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, alongside Suriya and Pooja Hegde. She also featured in the Telugu fantasy film Mirai, directed by Karthik Gattamneni, with a cast that includes Teja Sajja, Manchu Manoj, and Jagapathi Babu.

Shriya is married to Andrei Koscheev, and together they have a daughter named Radha.
