Space42 (ADX: SPACE42) has officially launched its AI-based geospatial intelligence platform, called GIQ, on the Microsoft Azure Marketplace. This major step expands Space42’s global presence, giving more people and organizations easier access to advanced space data tools. The company’s move also strengthens the United Arab Emirates’ position as a regional and global leader in space-enabled technologies and smart decision-making.
UAE’s Vision for Space Innovation
Salem Butti Al Qubaisi, the Director-General of the UAE Space Agency, shared that the nation’s Space Strategy 2030 has always focused on building talent, promoting science, and developing the economy, especially in the Earth observation sector. He explained that their partnership with Space42 was the UAE’s first public-private collaboration in this field. Through this partnership, they created a platform that allows startups, young researchers, and global partners to use modern space data and artificial intelligence tools.
Achieving Recognition Through Collaboration
According to Al Qubaisi, this collaboration has already made a real difference. In only three years, the partnership helped the UAE earn the Future Fit Prize, a respected global recognition. The award highlights how innovation and cooperation can lead to success in advanced technologies. He added that listing the GIQ platform on the Microsoft Azure Marketplace marks another strong achievement, proving the UAE’s leadership in space-based innovation and analytics.
Making Space Data Easier to Use
Al Qubaisi also pointed out that the GIQ platform is the first AI-powered geospatial intelligence solution from the region to appear on Microsoft Azure. This means it is now easier for governments, universities, and industries to access and use satellite imagery for many purposes. The platform helps create a more connected market for applications in Earth observation, reducing the distance between space data and the people who need it.
Supporting Global Intelligence Services
Hasan Al Hosani, CEO of Smart Solutions at Space42, said that bringing GIQ to Azure is a key moment in the company’s global journey. Together with Microsoft and the UAE Space Agency, Space42 aims to help organizations worldwide get reliable and quick insights from geospatial intelligence. The platform also builds trust, making Space42 a preferred partner for both governments and large enterprises. Their goal is to become a top global name in geospatial intelligence and AI-based services.
Overcoming Industry Challenges
For a long time, many organizations have struggled to use geospatial intelligence because of limited access, scattered data sources, and high processing demands. These problems have slowed down the adoption of such advanced tools. Space42 designed GIQ specifically to solve these issues. The platform can turn data from many satellites into clear, ready-to-use insights within minutes, instead of hours.
Using Advanced AI for Real Problems
GIQ combines data from more than 10 vendors and uses over eight advanced AI models. These models have already been tested in real-world situations, including helping with disaster response, city planning, and food security projects. By using GIQ, decision-makers can react faster and more accurately during emergencies or while planning new developments.
Speed, Security, and Ecosystem
The GIQ platform stands out for three main reasons. First, it greatly increases speed to insight. What used to take hours can now be done in minutes. This quick process helps during urgent operations such as managing natural disasters or allocating important resources. Second, it ensures secure and private data handling. Governments and businesses can process sensitive information in a protected AI environment, keeping their data safe. Third, GIQ builds a global community. It connects developers, startups, and enterprises, helping them create and share new solutions for major global issues like climate change and food shortages.
UAE’s Growing Role in Global Space Efforts
The launch of GIQ on Microsoft Azure not only benefits users worldwide but also shows the UAE’s growing role as a major player in global space technology. The country continues to focus on research, collaboration, and the practical use of satellite data to support smarter decisions for a sustainable future. Through innovation and strong partnerships, the UAE is becoming a hub for geospatial and AI development, helping shape the future of intelligent decision-making worldwide.
