A pall of sadness descended over Telangana after Tanneeru Satyanarayana Rao, father of former minister and Siddipet BRS MLA T. Harish Rao, died in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Family sources said the death followed age-related health problems. Leaders across party lines and members of the BRS extended their sympathies to the family.
According to relatives, Mr. Satyanarayana Rao hailed from Kothapalli village in Karimnagar district and had been unwell for some time. He was respected locally for his modest lifestyle, strict discipline and long-standing service to his community. His passing is being felt keenly by both his family and neighbours.
His body was kept at Harish Rao’s Kokapet residence to allow relatives, friends and well-wishers to pay respects. Supporters and party workers gathered there in large numbers, and the family reported emotional scenes as people offered condolences. The last rites are scheduled to take place at the Mahaprasthanam crematorium in Film Nagar on Tuesday afternoon, relatives confirmed.
Senior figures including BRS leader K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR), BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) and Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy conveyed condolences. KCR, who shared a close relationship with the family, described Mr. Satyanarayana Rao as a man of integrity and affection, and phoned Harish Rao immediately after learning of the death; he is expected to visit the family in person.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed his sympathies to Harish Rao and his relatives, saying “May his soul rest in peace, and may God grant strength to the family in this difficult time.”
KTR visited Harish Rao’s home to pay floral tributes and announced the suspension of BRS events, including the Jubilee Hills by-election campaign, for the day as a mark of respect. The move underscored the party’s sense of loss.
Other leaders who offered condolences included Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad, Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, and ministers such as Ponnam Prabhakar, D. Sridhar Babu and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy. Senior BRS figures Jagadish Reddy, S. Niranjan Reddy, Vemula Prashanth Reddy, Talasani Srinivas Yadav and P. Sabitha Indra Reddy also paid their respects.
Villagers in Kothapalli recalled Mr. Satyanarayana Rao as a humble, kind person who was always willing to help others. His death has left the local community mourning the loss of a trusted elder and guide.
Harish Rao, known for his close rapport with Siddipet residents, has received widespread messages of support. Hundreds of party workers and citizens visited his residence through the morning to stand with the family in their grief.
As tributes continue across the state, Telangana remembers Tanneeru Satyanarayana Rao for his quiet service and the respect he earned throughout his life.
