The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Armed Forces successfully intercepted five ballistic missiles and 35 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iran on Wednesday, the Ministry of Defence confirmed.
Since the onset of repeated Iranian attacks, UAE air defences have engaged 438 ballistic missiles, 19 cruise missiles, and 2,012 UAVs, demonstrating the country’s robust security infrastructure.
Tragically, the assaults led to the martyrdom of two UAE armed forces personnel on duty, as well as a Moroccan civilian contractor working with the armed forces. Additional fatalities included nine foreign nationals from Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Palestine, and India.
The attacks also left 190 people injured, with injuries ranging from minor to severe. Those affected include UAE citizens and expatriates from Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, Türkiye, Iraq, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Ghana, Indonesia, Sweden, and Tunisia.
The Ministry of Defence affirmed that it remains fully prepared and ready to counter any threats, ensuring the protection of UAE sovereignty, security, and national stability while safeguarding strategic interests and capabilities.
