UAE Builds Water Pipeline to Help People in Southern Gaza Strip

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is working on an important project to bring clean water to the southern Gaza Strip. This project is called the “Lifeline Water Supply Project.” It is part of the UAE’s big effort to help the people of Gaza during a hard time caused by ongoing conflict. The project is carried out with the Coastal Municipalities Water Utility (CMWU) in Gaza and also in coordination with Egyptian authorities.

Why Gaza Needs This Water Project

The Gaza Strip has many problems with water supply. Many people, including families who had to leave their homes because of fighting, do not have enough clean and safe water. The conflict has damaged important infrastructure, making water supply difficult. People face water shortages, dirty water, and frequent outages. This is very hard during the hot summer months. The Lifeline Water Supply Project aims to provide a steady supply of clean water to help reduce these problems.

What the Project Does

The main work of the project is to build a new water pipeline that is 7 kilometers long. This pipeline will start at the UAE’s desalination stations located on the Egyptian side near Rafah. It will then extend into southern Gaza, reaching Al Mawasi. Al Mawasi is one of the most crowded areas in southern Gaza, where many displaced people live. This new pipeline will deliver water directly to this area and other nearby places.

Who Will Benefit from the Water Pipeline

About 600,000 people are expected to benefit from this project. These people include many children, women, elderly, and displaced families who currently face difficulties getting clean water. The new water supply will provide a reliable source of clean and safe water for drinking, cooking, and other daily needs. This will help improve health and reduce the burden on families who currently face water shortages.

Importance of Clean Water for Health

Clean water is essential for good health and a decent life. In Gaza, many people suffer from diseases caused by dirty or unsafe water. Children and elderly people are especially at risk. The new water project will help reduce these health problems by making sure that clean water is available regularly. This will help people stay healthy and reduce water-related illnesses.

Cooperation Between UAE and Local Authorities

The project is done through close cooperation between UAE teams and the Coastal Municipalities Water Utility in Gaza. Technical and field teams from both sides work together to make sure the project follows all engineering rules and meets the real needs of local people. This teamwork ensures that the pipeline is built correctly and safely. The UAE teams also coordinate with Egyptian authorities to manage the water supply from the desalination stations.

Progress and Timely Completion

According to the technical teams working on the project, the work is progressing quickly and on schedule. The goal is to finish building the pipeline soon and start providing water to the people in southern Gaza as soon as possible. The teams are working hard to make sure the project succeeds and reaches all planned areas without delay.

Part of a Larger Humanitarian Plan

This water pipeline project is one part of a bigger humanitarian effort by the UAE called Operation Chivalrous Knight 3. This operation includes many relief activities such as medical aid, food assistance, and infrastructure support. The UAE’s goal is to provide lasting help to the people of Gaza during the current difficult situation. This project shows the UAE’s strong commitment to supporting families and communities facing hardships.

Addressing a Severe Humanitarian Crisis

The situation in Gaza is very difficult because of the ongoing conflict. Many families have lost their homes and basic services like water and electricity have been damaged. The Lifeline Water Supply Project aims to help ease this crisis by providing clean water, one of the most urgent needs. Having reliable water can improve daily life and support other relief efforts in the region.

Helping Vulnerable Groups in Gaza

The project especially helps vulnerable groups such as children, women, and elderly people. These groups often suffer the most during crises. Access to clean water will help protect their health and give them a better chance to recover from the hardships caused by the conflict. The project will improve the quality of life for thousands of families in need.

A Model of Regional Cooperation

This water project also shows how countries can work together in times of crisis. The UAE, Gaza authorities, and Egypt are cooperating to deliver a practical solution to a big problem. This project can be an example for other countries and organizations on how to respond quickly and effectively to humanitarian needs. Cooperation between neighboring countries is important for helping people in difficult situations.

Sustainable and Long-Term Impact

The Lifeline Water Supply Project is designed to be sustainable. This means it will continue to help people for many years. The new water pipeline will provide a long-term source of clean water, helping families rebuild their lives. This sustainable approach supports the goal of not just immediate relief but lasting recovery for the communities affected by conflict.

Water Project Brings Hope to Gaza

The UAE’s water pipeline project is an important step toward helping the people of Gaza during a very challenging time. By providing clean and safe water to hundreds of thousands of people, the project helps improve health, reduce suffering, and support displaced families. It also strengthens regional cooperation and shows a strong commitment to humanitarian aid. Once complete, the project will make a real difference in the lives of many people in southern Gaza.
