H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, recently toured the new Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, located in the Saadiyat Cultural District. Their visit underscored the museum’s role as a major scientific and cultural emblem for the UAE.

With over 35,000 square metres of space, the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi is the largest establishment of its kind in the Middle East. It offers a captivating journey through 13.8 billion years of our planet's natural history. Utilizing cutting-edge technology and interactive displays, the museum narrates the story of the universe, the birth of planets, the evolution of life on Earth, and the rich diversity of living organisms, with a special focus on the natural history of the Arab region.

The tour commenced with a visit to the museum's striking entrance, where a world-first exhibition showcases a life-like formation of giant sauropod dinosaurs, providing a snapshot of prehistoric life that instantly attracts visitors' eyes.

During their exploration, the Highnesses delved into the museum’s educational initiatives aimed at fostering environmental awareness and sustainability. The exhibits encourage visitors to appreciate the relationship between humanity and nature while promoting the necessity of planet conservation. Interactive elements cater to all ages, facilitating learning about science, biodiversity, climate challenges, and conservation efforts.

Commenting on the visit, H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed noted that the museum emphasizes the UAE's advancements in science and research. He highlighted its role in nurturing public understanding of biodiversity preservation and responsible environmental practices, stating that such institutions equip future generations with essential knowledge and skills for exploration and research.

Similarly, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum recognized the museum as a pivotal addition to the UAE's dynamic cultural and scientific landscape. He mentioned that it enhances the UAE’s status as a knowledge, innovation, and research hub, essential for developing an informed society capable of addressing global challenges through scientific inquiry.

The tour was also attended by several prominent officials, including Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, and Saif Saeed Ghobash.

The museum houses several permanent galleries that guide visitors through various epochs of natural history. These include "The Story of Earth," "The Evolving World," "Our World," "Resilient Planet," and "Earth’s Future." Specialized side galleries such as "The PalaeoLab," "The Life Sciences Lab," "Arabia’s Climate," "Beyond the Horizon," and "The Human Story" invite additional exploration. An Interactive Theatre also provides stunning visual experiences that transport guests through time.

Opening to the public on 22 November 2025, the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi promises to deliver a comprehensive educational experience for families, students, researchers, and global visitors alike.

Upon its opening, the museum will join a lineup of world-class cultural landmarks in the Saadiyat Cultural District, including the Louvre Abu Dhabi, teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi, and the upcoming Zayed National Museum and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, collectively fortifying Abu Dhabi’s position as a global center for culture, science, creativity, and innovation.
