H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Ruler of Fujairah, attended the Commemoration Day ceremony at Wahat Al Karama in Abu Dhabi. He was accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes Affairs. The event honored the bravery and sacrifices of UAE heroes who gave their lives for the country.
During the ceremony, Sheikh Hamad laid a wreath at the monument and presented the Martyr’s Medal to four families of heroes who sacrificed their lives to protect the UAE. The event highlighted the nation’s commitment to recognizing and remembering its martyrs.
A special tribute featured fighter jets flying in the shape of the Unknown Soldier, symbolizing the courage and dedication of the UAE’s fallen heroes. This aerial display impressed the audience and served as a moving reminder of their sacrifices.
Senior UAE leaders attended the ceremony, including H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah; H.H. Lt General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior; H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; and H.H. Sheikh Omar bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Their presence emphasized the nation’s unity in honoring its heroes.
Other dignitaries included Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence; Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State; Major General Staff Sheikh Ahmed bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces; and Khalifa bin Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, UAE Ambassador to Jordan.
Families of martyrs, high-ranking officials, military officers, diplomats, and guests also attended, creating an atmosphere of respect and national pride. The ceremony demonstrated the UAE’s dedication to honoring its heroes and supporting their families.
Wahat Al Karama serves as a national monument for fallen heroes. The Commemoration Day event reinforced values of courage, patriotism, and unity. Through wreath-laying, medal presentations, and ceremonial tributes, UAE leaders showed that the sacrifices of martyrs will never be forgotten. The event strengthens national identity and pride across the country.
