The Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF) has signed an important agreement with France’s Manufactures nationales – Sèvres & Mobilier national, which works under the French Ministry of Culture. This partnership aims to build stronger cultural ties between the UAE and France by encouraging artistic collaboration, innovation, and learning.
A Vision to Support Artists and Preserve Heritage
The agreement between ADMAF and the French organization focuses on helping young and talented artists. It also supports experienced creators and promotes traditional crafts. The goal is to protect these valuable traditions while making room for modern creative ideas. This partnership will benefit both countries by encouraging innovation and respect for cultural roots.
Agreement Signed in Paris by Key Cultural Leaders
The agreement was signed on 21st July 2025 in Paris. It was signed by Huda Alkhamis-Kanoo, the Founder of ADMAF and Abu Dhabi Festival, and Hervé Lemoine, the President of Manufactures nationales. The signing was witnessed by Rachida Dati, the French Minister of Culture. The event took place at the French Ministry of Culture, highlighting the importance of the occasion.
A Step Forward in UAE-France Cultural Relations
French Minister Rachida Dati expressed her happiness about this partnership. She said that this agreement strengthens the cultural ties between France and the UAE. According to her, culture plays a major role in the relationship between the two nations. She added that this agreement fits with France’s goal to share its rich art and craft traditions with the world.
A Partnership Based on Creation, Innovation, and Teaching
Huda Al Khamis-Kanoo said that this new partnership is built on three main values: creation, innovation, and transmission. She explained that both France and the UAE believe in holding onto their traditions while moving forward with modern ideas. She hopes that this agreement will help young artists grow and encourage more people to appreciate traditional crafts.
Embracing the Future with a Blend of Old and New
Hervé Lemoine, the President of Manufactures nationales, said that this partnership creates a space where traditional crafts and new ideas come together. He believes that the future of decorative arts lies in combining the wisdom of the past with the creativity of today. This collaboration gives artists the freedom to experiment and create something new and exciting.
France’s Ambassador to UAE Welcomes the Initiative
Nicolas Niemtchinow, the French Ambassador to the UAE, also praised the agreement. He said that this partnership is based on shared values like creativity and learning. He believes this marks a new chapter in the UAE-France relationship. According to him, the agreement will create opportunities for artists, designers, and institutions from both countries to work together, learn from each other, and celebrate their craft.
Joint Projects to Promote Art and Learning
The new partnership will include residency programs, exhibitions, and educational activities. These projects will focus on both preserving traditions and encouraging innovation. Artists from the UAE and France will have chances to learn new skills, share their knowledge, and bring fresh ideas to the world of crafts and design.
First Step: An Artistic Residency in Paris
The first project from this partnership is already underway. An open call has been launched for UAE designers to apply for a residency in Paris. The selected artists will get a chance to work in France, use design workshops, and explore valuable art archives. A panel of experts will choose the winner in August 2025, and the residency will begin in September during Paris Design Week.
Focus on Sustainability and New Technology in Crafts
Apart from supporting artists, the partnership will also focus on sustainable methods and using technology in traditional crafts. This means looking for ways to protect the environment while still keeping the beauty and quality of handmade art. The organizations plan to create educational tools to help younger people learn and carry forward these traditions.
A Shared Commitment to Creative Education
Both ADMAF and Manufactures nationales believe in giving people access to arts education. This agreement will help inspire future generations by teaching them about traditional and modern forms of art. By working together, they want to keep the spirit of craftsmanship alive in a fast-changing world.
A Strong Foundation for Long-Term Cultural Growth
The partnership between ADMAF and France’s top cultural institutions is a big step forward. It supports the UAE’s growing arts scene and highlights France’s global influence in decorative arts. This is not just a short-term project—it’s the beginning of a long and meaningful cultural journey.
Celebrating Tradition While Embracing the Future
This partnership celebrates the deep artistic traditions of both countries while opening the door to modern creativity and learning. It brings together the past and the future to create something truly special. With joint programs, support for young artists, and a strong focus on education and innovation, this collaboration is set to make a lasting impact on the world of art and craft.
