Vietnam's government has officially sanctioned a proposal to form Dong Nai city as a centrally governed urban entity, representing a significant advancement in the region's administrative overhaul and urban development. The initiative also involves establishing 10 new wards within Dong Nai province to enhance governance and service provision.
This resolution was formalized on April 6, 2026, showcasing the government's commitment to transforming key economic zones into more self-sufficient urban hubs. With its robust industrial framework and adjacency to Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai is poised to reap substantial benefits from this redesignation.
Officials revealed that the Ministry of Interior proposed the plan, which has now garnered complete governmental approval. This strategic move is designed to boost administrative efficiency, refine infrastructure development, and foster conducive conditions for investment and economic growth in the area.
The Ministry of Interior will take charge of finalizing the project, incorporating insights from various governmental sectors and preparing comprehensive documents, including proposed resolutions for review by the National Assembly and its Standing Committee.
Furthermore, the ministry will maintain close collaboration with relevant agencies to ensure compliance with all legal protocols and regulatory standards. Authorities have emphasized the necessity of accuracy, transparency, and timeliness throughout this initiative for seamless execution.
The government reiterated that the Ministry of Interior is fully accountable for the proposal's content and quality, including accompanying reports. Any challenges beyond its jurisdiction must be reported immediately to the Prime Minister.
This initiative to establish Dong Nai as a centrally governed city aligns with Vietnam's broader strategy to modernize the urban framework, enhance regional planning, and fortify economic zones. Once realized, this transition is expected to improve connectivity, draw investments, and elevate the living standards for residents in the province.
