Vikas Khanna Enters TIME 100, Shines at New York Gala Night

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Celebrated Indian chef Vikas Khanna has been named in TIME magazine’s prestigious list of the 100 most influential people in the world. This marks a major achievement in his global culinary journey and highlights his impact on international cuisine.

Vikas Khanna attended the TIME 100 Gala held in New York on April 23, where he appeared in a sharp and elegant all-black outfit. He wore a tailored black bandhgala designed by Louis Vuitton, paired with a crisp white shirt, black trousers, and polished formal shoes. Adding a cultural touch to his look was a peacock brooch gifted by Nita Ambani, sourced from Swadesh.

After the event, Vikas shared pictures on Instagram along with a heartfelt note about his personal journey. He opened up about being called “Curry Boy” in the past, a term that once made him feel diminished. He wrote that the phrase carried a sense of disrespect and hurt him deeply at that time.

However, he explained how he gradually transformed its meaning through hard work and self-belief. Today, he proudly embraces the term as a symbol of his identity and success. He described his journey as one of growth — “step by step, plate by plate,” moving from silence and rejection to recognition and respect.

His post received a strong response online, with many people praising his achievements and inspiring journey. Fans highlighted how he rose from humble beginnings in Punjab to gaining global recognition. Many also appreciated his positive attitude and contribution to promoting Indian cuisine worldwide.

Vikas Khanna’s inclusion in the TIME 100 list not only celebrates his professional success but also his resilience and ability to turn challenges into strength.
