The Ministry of Social Development in Muscat marked World Autism Awareness Day 2026 with a special programme focused on inclusion and empowerment. The event was held under the patronage of Dr. Abdullah bin Hamoud Al Harthi, Undersecretary for Persons with Disabilities’ Affairs.
The celebration carried the theme “Autism and Humanity – Every Life Has Value” and featured a variety of workshops and interactive sessions. These activities were designed to engage children with autism spectrum disorder, highlight their talents, and encourage their participation in public life.
Experts and specialists delivered informative briefings on autism, offering practical guidance to parents and caregivers on how to better support children with the condition. The initiative also aimed to increase public understanding and promote positive ways of interacting with autistic individuals.
The event saw participation from families, students, and individuals enrolled in specialized centres, reinforcing the importance of community support and inclusive development for people with autism in Oman.
