New Amrit Bharat Express to Enhance Punjab-Bengal Link

New Amrit Bharat Express to Enhance Punjab-Bengal Link

Post by : Shakul

The Indian Railways will soon introduce the Amritsar-New Jalpaiguri Amrit Bharat Express, significantly enhancing rail connectivity between Punjab and West Bengal. This weekly service is anticipated to commence operations shortly.

Connecting Amritsar in Punjab to New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal, the route traverses vital cities and towns in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Railway officials are optimistic that this new line will serve thousands of long-distance travelers.

The Integral Coach Factory in Chennai has designed the Amrit Bharat Express as an economically viable modern travel option, offering elevated passenger amenities without the high costs typically associated with premium services.

Scheduled service will see train number 14664 depart Amritsar each Thursday at 12:45 PM, arriving in New Jalpaiguri at 4:15 AM on Saturday. The return leg, train number 14663, will leave New Jalpaiguri every Saturday at 8:00 AM, reaching Amritsar at 2:20 AM on Monday.

During its journey, the train will stop at 35 stations, including major points such as Jalandhar City, Ludhiana, Ambala Cantt, Saharanpur, Moradabad, Bareilly, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Raxaul, Sitamarhi, Forbesganj, Bagdogra, and Siliguri.

This service is expected to greatly benefit passengers from Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh, particularly those in smaller towns that currently lack direct long-distance train options.

Railway authorities noted that the Amrit Bharat Express aligns with Indian Railways' initiative to broaden accessible modern train services nationwide, primarily aimed at lower and middle-income travelers seeking enhanced comfort during travels.

Experts in travel emphasize that this new route could bolster tourism and economic ties between northern and eastern India, alleviating travel frustrations for families, students, and migrant workers.
