Apollo Tyres Replaces Dream11 As Indian Cricket Jersey Sponsor

Apollo Tyres Replaces Dream11 As Indian Cricket Jersey Sponsor

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Apollo Tyres has become the new jersey sponsor for the Indian cricket team. The tyre company has replaced Dream11, which had to leave the sponsorship because of the Indian government’s ban on real money gaming platforms. This is a big move for Apollo Tyres, as cricket is the most popular sport in India and followed by millions around the world.

Why Dream11 Left The Jersey Sponsorship

Dream11, a fantasy gaming company, was the official shirt sponsor of Team India. But after the government banned companies connected to real money gaming from sponsorship deals, Dream11 had to step down. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that businesses linked to gambling, cryptocurrency, tobacco, and alcohol would not be allowed to bid for sponsorship. This created a gap in sponsorship during the ongoing Asia Cup, which needed to be filled quickly.

Apollo Tyres Wins The Sponsorship Deal

After an Expression of Interest (EOI) process, Apollo Tyres won the bidding process and signed a three-year deal worth ₹579 crore. This is more than the earlier contract with Dream11, making it a major investment for the company. The deal is expected to cover 121 bilateral matches and 21 International Cricket Council (ICC) games played by the Indian team.

A Strong Global Presence For Apollo Tyres

Apollo Tyres is not new to sports sponsorship. The company has already built a strong global presence through partnerships in football, such as tie-ups with major European clubs. By becoming the official jersey sponsor of Team India, Apollo Tyres now strengthens its brand visibility in cricket too. Cricket’s global reach ensures that the brand will be seen not only in India but across all countries where India plays.

Importance Of The Sponsorship For BCCI

For the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), this deal is very important. After Dream11 left, there was a risk of the team having no sponsor logo on their jerseys during the Asia Cup. With Apollo Tyres stepping in, BCCI has secured not just a replacement but also a bigger financial deal, which will support cricket development and operations in the country. A senior BCCI official confirmed that the official announcement regarding the partnership will be made very soon.

Government’s Role In Sponsorship Rules

The change of sponsors also highlights the government’s role in shaping sports sponsorship rules. By banning companies connected to gambling, cryptocurrency, tobacco, and alcohol, the government made sure that only clean and safe brands could be associated with national teams. This decision aims to protect fans, especially the youth, from being influenced by risky businesses. Apollo Tyres, being a trusted brand, fits well with these rules.

What This Means For Team India

For the Indian cricket team, this new sponsorship means that their jerseys will now carry the Apollo Tyres logo during all matches. Fans will see this logo during Test matches, One Day Internationals (ODIs), and T20 Internationals. It also shows how powerful cricket sponsorship has become, with companies willing to invest hundreds of crores to be associated with the Indian team.

Cricket Sponsorship As A Growing Market

Cricket sponsorship in India is one of the biggest markets in the world. With millions of viewers in every match, companies find it an excellent way to connect with fans and increase their brand visibility. Apollo Tyres’ entry into this space shows how even non-sports brands view cricket as a key marketing platform. For businesses, such deals are not just about visibility but also about building trust and recognition with customers.

Apollo Tyres’ Vision Behind The Deal

Apollo Tyres likely sees this deal as a way to strengthen its image as a leading Indian multinational. By supporting cricket, the brand is associating itself with national pride, passion, and teamwork. Just like cricket unites millions of fans, Apollo Tyres hopes this partnership will connect them more strongly with their customers. The brand can also leverage this sponsorship for advertising, promotions, and global marketing campaigns.

A Win-Win Situation For Everyone

This partnership benefits everyone involved. For Apollo Tyres, it means global exposure and a stronger brand image. For BCCI, it ensures financial stability and the continuation of sponsorship revenue. For fans, it is another proud moment to see a leading Indian brand displayed on the national cricket team’s jersey. And for the players, it represents the trust that big brands have in the team’s success and popularity.

The deal with Apollo Tyres may also set a benchmark for future sponsorships. As cricket continues to grow in popularity worldwide, the value of sponsorship deals is expected to rise further. Other companies may also look at cricket sponsorships as a way to boost their presence. This could mean even bigger deals in the future, benefiting both the sport and the business world.
