Arada Secures Major Thameside West Development in London

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of Arada, was present at the signing ceremony marking the company's acquisition of an 80 percent stake in the Thameside West development in London. Spanning 2 million square feet, the project, worth AED 12.3 billion, stands as one of Europe's foremost urban renewal endeavors. This acquisition follows Arada's earlier Regal project purchase, marking a crucial expansion in their residential offerings in the UK capital.

Sheikh Sultan emphasized that this acquisition enhances London's reputation as a global center for property investment and urban progression. He affirmed Arada's commitment to delivering premium housing and essential services for inhabitants, while integrating sustainable solutions in accordance with international benchmarks. The objective is to ensure timely completion of all projects to meet contemporary urban living demands.

Positioned on the waterfront at the western side of the Royal Docks in London, the Thameside West master plan includes the development of at least 5,000 homes, with roughly half the area devoted to green spaces and eco-friendly infrastructure. The design features a one-kilometre span of waterfront that offers stunning views of Canary Wharf and the Greenwich Peninsula. The approach provides both luxury and affordable housing options, with 35 percent of units reserved as affordable, aligning with London's accessible housing initiatives.

A notable benefit of Thameside West is its outstanding connectivity; the site is close to key transport infrastructures, including London airports, highways, rail systems, tunnels, river transportation, and cable cars, ensuring convenient access from all directions. This prime location enhances its appeal for prospective residents and investors.

Sheikh Sultan outlined that Arada aims to elevate its residential project portfolio in London to 30,000 units over the next three years. Following this acquisition, the total housing units in London will rise to 15,000. He underscored the significance of engaging with strategic partners to deliver integrated, sustainable urban projects that provide exceptional living experiences.

Detailed planning approval for Thameside West is anticipated shortly, with construction set to commence in 2027, marking the first phase which will deliver 1,000 housing units. Arada is already undertaking preliminary steps to meet project goals and timelines.

Thameside West represents a significant achievement for Arada, showcasing its proficiency in large-scale residential projects and its dedication to international growth. Combining modern design with sustainable infrastructure, this waterfront development emerges as a pivotal urban project in London. By providing a blend of affordable and luxury housing, Arada seeks to address the needs of a diverse resident population while contributing to the city’s vision of inclusive urban development.

This acquisition further solidifies Arada's strategy to expand in the UK real estate sector. Sheikh Sultan noted the firm’s ongoing commitment to delivering quality initiatives, nurturing robust partnerships, and positively influencing London’s urban landscape. The Thameside West development aims to establish new benchmarks in residential living, enhancing the city’s waterfront and transit systems.
