Fatal Accident on MEX Claims Bangladeshi Life

Post by : Shakul

In a devastating incident on the Maju Expressway in Kuala Lumpur, a young Bangladeshi man lost his life, suspected to be a result of drunk driving. This fatal crash disrupted what should have been a regular airport journey.

The deceased, 22-year-old Muzahid Millad, was traveling with his wife in a ride-hailing vehicle when another car struck them. The impact was so severe that Millad sustained fatal head injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Reports indicate that the collision involved a Perodua Alza, utilized as an e-hailing service, and a Ford Fiesta. Initial investigations point towards the Ford Fiesta, operated by a 31-year-old military officer, having veered into oncoming traffic, leading to the crash.

Police have apprehended the military officer for further questioning, and he is currently in custody for five days. A court has granted this remand following a police inquiry, highlighting the incident's grave implications.

Testing revealed the officer's blood alcohol concentration exceeded legal limits, although no drugs were detected in his system, indicating a clear influence of alcohol.

The crash resulted in multiple injuries, including that of the victim's wife, a 20-year-old who is now hospitalized, and the e-hailing driver, who also suffered head injuries alongside the military officer and his female passenger.

Emergency responders were quick to the scene, attending to the casualties and facilitating the clearance of wreckages, which caused temporary traffic issues and sparked safety concerns among commuters.

This tragic event has reignited discussions about the perils of drunk driving and the urgent need for stricter traffic regulations. Safety advocates urge enhanced enforcement and driver education to avert future incidents of this nature.

The investigation is ongoing, with the authorities pledging to take necessary actions once all details are reviewed, underscoring the pressing need for improved road safety measures.
