A recent announcement regarding a ₹500 gobar gas (biogas) cylinder has captivated audiences throughout India, igniting conversations about affordable and eco-friendly energy options. The enticing price tag for an 18 kg biogas cylinder has caught the attention of consumers eager for budget-friendly fuel sources.
Generated from cow dung and organic materials, biogas is presently promoted through various initiatives, including the GOBARdhan scheme. It is hailed as a green energy source that lessens reliance on LPG and also yields organic fertilizer as a beneficial by-product.
Experts caution, however, that most current biogas setups utilize stationary plants and pipeline systems rather than portable cylinders akin to LPG. They emphasize the need for verification of claims surrounding immediate availability of biogas cylinders through credible channels.
The heightened interest in biogas mirrors a significant trend towards adopting sustainable energy solutions in India, particularly in light of escalating fuel prices and a growing commitment to environmental stewardship.
