Alberta Delivery Driver Attacked Over Delivery Dispute

Alberta Delivery Driver Attacked Over Delivery Dispute

Post by : Meena Hassan

A seemingly routine appliance delivery in central Alberta turned chaotic when a disagreement over the delivery address escalated, leaving a delivery driver rattled and a local man in legal trouble.

The incident unfolded on December 4 at a rural site near Sundre. The driver, tasked with delivering a refrigerator, washing machine, and dryer, initially went to the wrong address. Upon recognizing the error, he parked by the roadside and reached out to the customer for the correct location.

Soon after, the customer arrived with an alternate address. The driver informed him that delivery locations couldn’t be changed at that moment and must comply with company protocols. This response reportedly infuriated the customer, leading to a rapid escalation of tensions.

As detailed by police, the customer yanked open the delivery truck’s door and struck the driver multiple times. The situation escalated further when the suspect went to his vehicle, retrieved a long firearm, and allegedly threatened the driver with death if the appliances weren’t delivered to the new address.

In fear for his life, the driver managed to flee in his truck. Authorities later confirmed that he did not sustain any significant injuries.

Police apprehended a 31-year-old resident of Sundre at his home later that day. Upon searching the property, officers found 16 firearms along with a substantial amount of ammunition.

The suspect faces 14 charges, including assault, making threats, and extortion with a firearm. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities emphasize the seriousness of using weapons to intimidate during routine service encounters.
