New Delhi – A tragic hit-and-run incident in central Delhi on November 2 left 35-year-old Rajendra Gupta dead, with police confirming the arrest of a 24-year-old accused in connection with the fatal accident.
The incident came to light when LNJP Hospital informed authorities that a man had been brought in dead following a suspected road accident. Gupta, a resident of Krishna Nagar, Delhi, was identified as the victim.
Police swiftly registered a case under relevant sections of the BNS and launched an investigation. “We examined footage from multiple CCTV cameras along nearby roads and carried out field inquiries to identify the vehicle involved,” said a senior police officer.
Following meticulous technical analysis, authorities traced the car involved to a registration from Uttar Pradesh. The registered owner, Harshit Mehta, 24, residing in Agra, was issued a notice under Section 133 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Mehta later appeared at a police station and confessed to his involvement in the incident.
The vehicle used in the hit-and-run was recovered and seized by police as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities are continuing to investigate to determine whether any further legal action or charges are required.
The police emphasized the importance of road safety and urged motorists to adhere to traffic rules to prevent such fatal incidents.
