The Dubai Sports Council (DSC), in partnership with the UAE Football Association and Delta Aid Sport, has officially launched the Dubai Open Football Academies Tournament (DOFA). This initiative is part of DSC’s ongoing commitment to nurturing young sporting talent and promoting Dubai as a global sports hub. The 2025 edition is the largest in the tournament’s history, emphasizing inclusivity and opportunities for players of all backgrounds.
This year’s tournament features 12,000 male and female players forming 558 teams from 117 academies, including 40 girls’ teams. Participants represent football academies from across all Emirates, competing in various age groups ranging from 6 to 23 years old. Compared to the previous edition, player participation has grown by 9.1% and team entries increased by 11.6%, reflecting the tournament’s rising popularity and importance in developing youth football in the UAE.
The DOFA Championship is organized in a single-round league system, with top group winners advancing to a Super Cup competition. Matches will be held throughout the sports season across nine venues, including Dubai Sports City. This structure ensures broad participation and provides equal opportunities for academies and players to compete at a professional level.
The tournament aligns with Dubai’s leadership vision to identify and develop young sporting talent across all disciplines. By providing a platform for competition and skill development, DOFA contributes to building the next generation of high-performing athletes while promoting teamwork, fair play, and sporting values. The event also strengthens Dubai’s position as a leading regional and global sports center.
All tournament venues have been prepared to meet the highest international standards of safety and professionalism. Players, coaches, and teams can expect well-organized facilities designed to enhance the overall experience, ensuring that the tournament not only develops talent but also promotes a safe and inspiring environment for youth football across the UAE.
Through DOFA, the Dubai Sports Council aims to provide young footballers with competitive exposure, professional coaching experiences, and opportunities to demonstrate their skills. The tournament represents a stepping stone for future stars, helping them gain confidence and experience in a structured, competitive environment while fostering a lifelong passion for sports and healthy lifestyles.
The DOFA 2025 edition reflects Dubai’s dedication to supporting youth sports and creating a sustainable environment for football development, setting a benchmark for similar tournaments in the region.
