Dubai International Chamber, part of Dubai Chambers, has inaugurated a new representative office in Stockholm. This expansion aims to strengthen ties between Dubai and Sweden’s business communities and enhance mutual trade and investment opportunities.
Official Launch Ceremony
The opening ceremony in Stockholm saw the participation of Benjamin Dousa, Sweden’s Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade; Ghasaq Shaheen, UAE Ambassador to Sweden; and Salem AlShamsi, Executive VP of International Relations at Dubai Chambers. The event highlighted the growing collaboration between the two regions.
First Office in the Nordic Region
The Stockholm office marks the chamber’s first presence in the Nordic region. Launched under the ‘Dubai Global’ initiative, it will act as a gateway to attract Swedish companies to Dubai and promote investment opportunities available in the emirate.
Focus on Trade and Investment Growth
Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, said the office reinforces Dubai’s strategic focus on the Nordic market. Sweden’s dynamic business landscape provides immense collaboration opportunities, and the office will help expand bilateral trade and investment.
Bilateral Trade Between Dubai and Sweden
Trade relations between Dubai and Sweden have been growing steadily. In 2024, non-oil bilateral trade reached AED 3.9 billion, reflecting an annual growth of 5.3 percent. This growth demonstrates the potential for increased cooperation through the new office.
Swedish Business Engagement in Dubai
Interest from Swedish companies in Dubai continues to rise. By mid-2025, Dubai Chamber had 940 active Swedish members, with 127 companies joining in the first half of the year, indicating strong engagement and confidence in Dubai’s business environment.
Role of Representative Offices
Dubai International Chamber’s global network of offices supports the emirate’s position as a global trade hub. These offices provide in-market assistance, attract businesses, foster partnerships, and promote Dubai as a preferred destination for investment and talent.
Strategic Benefits for Dubai and Sweden
The Stockholm office is expected to deepen economic collaboration, boost trade, and open new avenues for Swedish companies seeking to expand in the UAE. It strengthens Dubai’s global outreach while offering Sweden a platform to connect with Middle East markets.
With the Nordic expansion, Dubai Chambers continues to emphasize international collaboration, creating opportunities for investment, innovation, and economic growth. The Stockholm office reinforces Dubai’s commitment to connecting global markets and fostering long-term partnerships.
The opening of the Stockholm office represents a major step in Dubai’s global trade strategy, supporting stronger economic relations with Sweden and contributing to the growth of bilateral trade, investment, and business opportunities.
