In a significant move to strengthen business ties, Dubai Chambers recently held a roundtable in Beijing with the China Machinery Industry Federation (CMIF). The event aimed to attract Chinese companies that specialize in advanced technologies, especially in areas that align with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33). This step is part of Dubai's broader strategy to position itself as a hub for innovation and global trade.

Memorandum of Understanding Signed

On the sidelines of the roundtable, Dubai Chambers signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CMIF. The signing took place in the presence of Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, and Niansha Xu, Chairman of CMIF. This agreement marks a new phase of cooperation and will play a major role in bridging business communities between the two regions.

Goals of the MoU

The main purpose of the MoU is to enhance cooperation between Dubai and China, build stronger business relations, and develop a structured approach to joint opportunities. These include initiatives in technology, industrial development, trade exhibitions, and information exchange. Both sides aim to make it easier for businesses from either region to connect, invest, and grow.

Statement by Dubai Chambers President

Speaking about the collaboration, Mr. Lootah stated,

“We are committed to strengthening the economic ties between Dubai and China and advancing bilateral cooperation in priority areas, particularly the industrial sector. This will open new opportunities for the private sector and contribute to sustainable economic growth.”

He also highlighted Dubai’s competitive advantages as a global business hub and expressed the commitment to helping Chinese industrial companies benefit from Dubai’s opportunities.

How Dubai Will Support Chinese Businesses

According to the MoU, Dubai Chambers will offer full support to CMIF’s member companies. This includes helping them enter, set up, and expand operations within Dubai. They will also receive guidance on local market practices, regulations, and business environment—making their transition and operations smoother.

Support From the Chinese Side

In return, CMIF will support companies based in Dubai to build meaningful business relationships with Chinese counterparts. This two-way partnership will also involve organizing trade fairs, exhibitions, business delegations, and data sharing between the two regions. It is designed to benefit both sides by making trade and cooperation easier.

Participants and Areas of Interest

The roundtable event in Beijing brought together officials and company representatives from multiple industries such as:

  • Automotive

  • Construction

  • Industrial machinery

  • Agriculture

  • Water purification

These sectors are central to China’s export strength and Dubai’s development needs. During the discussions, the participants explored how Dubai could serve as a launchpad for Chinese manufacturers to grow their presence in regional and global markets.

The Role of Dubai’s Exhibitions and Events

The discussions also emphasized how Dubai’s global exhibitions and industry-focused events can serve as a major advantage for Chinese firms. With world-class infrastructure and a central location, Dubai hosts numerous trade expos, many of which could help Chinese companies expand visibility and find new buyers across the Middle East, Africa, and beyond.

Focus on Emerging Sectors

Dubai Chambers also presented the city’s growing emphasis on future-ready sectors like artificial intelligence, robotics, and automation. These are areas where China already has a strong industrial base, and Dubai is looking for strategic partners to accelerate development. The roundtable highlighted that such cooperation could help Dubai build expertise while giving Chinese firms access to newer markets.

Dubai’s Vision and D33 Agenda

This collaboration also directly supports Dubai’s D33 Economic Agenda, which aims to double the size of Dubai’s economy over the next decade and establish the city as one of the top three economic cities in the world. By attracting tech-driven and industrial companies, especially from China, Dubai aims to bring new investments, jobs, and innovation into its economy.

Mutual Benefits for Growth

The deal between Dubai Chambers and CMIF is structured to be mutually beneficial. Chinese businesses will gain easier access to Dubai’s strategic location, free zones, and investor-friendly policies, while Dubai will benefit from increased foreign direct investment and knowledge transfer in advanced industries.

Building Business Bridges

Dubai Chambers and CMIF also agreed to continue working closely beyond just trade. They plan to exchange business delegations regularly, hold joint trade missions, and even share market data and business insights. These steps will help build deeper trust, reduce trade barriers, and encourage long-term investment.

Supporting SMEs and Large Companies Alike

One of the highlights of the event was Dubai Chambers’ clear message that they will support both small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and large industrial corporations from China. Whether it is a startup in AI or a large firm in heavy machinery, Dubai is looking to offer them infrastructure, access, and stability to grow their operations in the UAE.

A Step Toward a Stronger Business Future

This roundtable and the MoU signing are part of a larger movement to bring China and Dubai closer in trade and industrial development. By focusing on technology, innovation, and shared economic interests, both sides are building a future-ready partnership.

Dubai's welcoming business environment, paired with China's industrial power, creates a strong foundation for growth, innovation, and global expansion. The MoU lays down a roadmap that could significantly boost bilateral trade and industrial cooperation over the coming years.
