Dubai Courts has signed an important Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the UAE Sports Arbitration Centre. This agreement marks a significant step in improving the judicial system for sports-related disputes in the country. It reflects Dubai’s commitment to delivering justice that is fast, flexible, and effective, while supporting the growth of a specialised sports arbitration system.
Goal Of The Agreement
The main goal of this MoU is to create a more organised and efficient process for resolving sports disputes. By working together, Dubai Courts and the Sports Arbitration Centre aim to ensure transparency, fairness, and speed in handling disputes. This initiative also strengthens Dubai’s reputation as a global hub for legal and judicial excellence.
Officials Who Signed The MoU
The agreement was officially signed by His Excellency Prof. Saif Ghanem Al Suwaidi, Director-General of Dubai Courts, and His Excellency Jamal Hamed Al Marri, President of the UAE Sports Arbitration Centre. The MoU establishes a clear process for enforcing arbitral awards, meaning decisions made by the Centre can now be quickly implemented through Dubai Courts. This ensures that rulings related to sports disputes are effective and binding.
Framework And Cooperation
Under the MoU, Dubai Courts will manage enforcement applications submitted by winning parties, following UAE laws and legal procedures. Both institutions will also work together on joint initiatives such as workshops, coordination meetings, and specialised training. These programs are designed to build expertise in sports arbitration and ensure smooth, consistent processes for athletes, teams, and other stakeholders involved in disputes.
Benefits For The UAE Sports Sector
The UAE Sports Arbitration Centre has developed a strong team of experienced arbitrators skilled in both sports and legal matters. By pooling resources and knowledge, this partnership creates a more agile and responsive arbitration system. The agreement supports the growth of the UAE sports sector, providing fast and reliable dispute resolution for clubs, players, and sporting organisations.
Building Expertise And Trust
One of the key benefits of this MoU is capacity building. The training programs and workshops will help legal professionals and sports administrators understand arbitration processes better. This will improve decision-making, reduce delays, and provide more confidence to all parties involved in disputes. It also demonstrates Dubai’s dedication to modern, professional, and transparent legal practices.
Supporting Dubai’s Judicial Reputation
This partnership strengthens Dubai’s role as a centre for fairness and speed in justice. By combining legal expertise with specialised sports knowledge, Dubai Courts and the UAE Sports Arbitration Centre are creating a system that is reliable, efficient, and accessible. The MoU ensures that sports arbitration in the UAE keeps pace with the rapid growth of the sector while protecting the rights of athletes and organisations.
