H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Border Security Council, emphasized that strong coordination among government entities is essential for maintaining Dubai’s leading global position in travel security and efficient passenger movement. He stated that the emirate’s ability to combine speed with safety is what gives Dubai its competitive edge in the global aviation industry.
Sheikh Mansoor made these remarks during a field visit to Dubai International Airport (DXB), one of the busiest airports in the world. The visit covered several key government departments, including Dubai Police, the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs, Dubai Customs, and the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority. The objective was to assess the readiness of operational teams to manage the increasing number of passengers passing through the airport.
Sheikh Mansoor underlined that the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, has established Dubai as a global leader in aviation. The aviation sector has become a major pillar of Dubai’s economic growth and a key component in achieving the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which seeks to double the size of the economy over the next decade.
He praised the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group. Sheikh Mansoor said that under Sheikh Ahmed’s guidance, Dubai Airports has become a global model for operational excellence, innovation, and readiness for the future.
Sheikh Mansoor noted that Dubai’s aviation achievements are the result of teamwork among all partner entities. He said these efforts demonstrate Dubai’s capacity for digital transformation in airport management, which helps ensure smooth operations, fast processing, and high security. This integrated approach, he added, strengthens Dubai’s position as a hub for travel, trade, and logistics.
The Chairman reaffirmed that Dubai continues to develop advanced digital solutions and adopt innovative operational practices to maintain world-class standards of safety and service. He said that the government’s continuous innovation helps ensure that passengers experience convenience and security while traveling through Dubai’s airports. This, he added, aligns with the leadership’s goal of making Dubai a global model for excellence and future readiness.
Sheikh Mansoor was joined during the visit by Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director-General of the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai and Vice Chairman of the Council, as well as Omar Ali Salem Al Adidi, Secretary-General of the Council. Other senior officials from key government entities and members of the Council’s Board were also present, reflecting the spirit of collaboration across agencies responsible for Dubai’s borders and ports.
Omar Ali Salem Al Adidi, Secretary-General of the Dubai Border Security Council, stated that the visit is part of continuous efforts to enhance coordination and strengthen border security systems across Dubai’s entry points. He explained that the Council focuses on advanced risk analysis and management using modern technologies. These tools help identify potential threats quickly and maintain seamless border control operations.
According to recent figures, Dubai International Airport (DXB) recorded a 2.3% increase in passenger traffic during the first half of 2025, reaching 46 million passengers—its busiest first half ever. The airport also reported its highest-ever monthly traffic in January 2025, when it welcomed 8.5 million travelers. Officials expect passenger numbers to continue rising in the coming months, driven by global travel demand and major international events hosted in Dubai.
The steady growth of DXB’s passenger traffic reinforces Dubai’s position as a world leader in aviation and international connectivity. Sheikh Mansoor concluded that through continuous innovation, digital transformation, and collaboration between government agencies, Dubai remains committed to setting global standards for aviation safety, efficiency, and service excellence. These efforts support the emirate’s role as a vital global gateway and a central hub in the world’s travel network.
