Under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai is preparing to host the 50th International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) World Finals from November 15 to 20, 2026.
This significant occasion underscores Dubai’s elevation as a global center for digital innovation and advanced technology talent. It further solidifies the emirate’s dedication to cultivating future-ready digital skills.
The announcement was made during a press conference at Dubai Chambers’ headquarters, featuring Saeed Al Gergawi, Vice President of Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, and Dr. William B. Poucher, President, CEO, and Board Chair of the ICPC Foundation.

After a series of regional contests and eight ICPC Regional Championships, over 130 elite university teams will have the opportunity to compete in Dubai at the 2026 ICPC World Championship.
The competition boasts support from leading global technology sponsors such as Huawei, JetBrains, Google, OpenAI, Jane Street, Jump Trading, Citadel, Revolut, and Albers Blanc, to name a few.
Strategic Investment in Knowledge-Driven Economy
His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, and Chairman of Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, stated that hosting the ICPC World Finals embodies Dubai’s vision for establishing a future-ready digital ecosystem, driven by innovation and highly skilled human capital.
He further noted that this event marks a significant investment in the knowledge economy, aligns with the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, and bolsters Dubai’s standing among premier digital economies worldwide.
Five Days of Premier Competition
The ICPC World Finals will culminate in five challenging days, gathering top student teams for a series of activities leading to a climactic five-hour coding contest.
Each team, comprising three members, will tackle intricate algorithmic challenges, testing their technical prowess, collaboration, speed, and creativity.
Global Talent Pipeline
Since its inception in 1970, ICPC has emerged as one of the foremost talent pipelines for the technology sector, producing over 500,000 graduates now occupying pivotal roles in leading global tech companies and research institutions.
Dr. William B. Poucher referred to the 50th edition as a “Golden Anniversary,” uniting the next generation of critical talent poised to influence the global digital economy.
Inspiration for Regional Talent
This event is anticipated to motivate students throughout the UAE and the broader region to delve into computer science, while advocating for increased participation by local universities in both national and regional competitions.
