The Dubai Racing Club has announced that the 2025–2026 Dubai Racing Carnival has received more than 300 entry applications from 19 countries, making it one of the strongest editions in the event’s history. The 16-week carnival, held at Meydan Racecourse, began its competitions on 7th November and has already seen horses arrive from the UK, Denmark, and Norway, with more exciting entries expected in the coming weeks.
Among the early arrivals was British trainer Jamie Osborne, who brought his team including Heart Of Honour, the G2 UAE Derby runner-up and G1 Preakness fifth-place finisher. From Norway, Niels Petersen arrived with 11 horses, including Norsk Derby winner War Socks. Czech trainer Miroslav Nieslanik returned with sprinter Ponntos and five other horses, while Denmark’s Veronika Jandova arrived with seven horses, including Hans Andersen, a Listed race winner from last season.
Newmarket-based trainer Phil Spencer, supported by Phil Cunningham, brought a team of ten under the Rebel Racing banner. This includes Goodwood Stewards’ Cup winner Two Tribes and Ayr Gold Cup champion Run Boy Run. These high-profile entries highlight the Carnival’s international appeal and competitive level.
The Dubai Racing Carnival will continue until March, leading up to the 30th Dubai World Cup on 28th March. Several trainers are targeting later events in the carnival. British trainer Karl Burke will bring a five-strong team including G1 Jebel Hatta third Holloway Boy. David O’Meara will return with G2 Dubai Gold Cup third Epic Poet. Witness Stand, winner of the G2 Lennox Stakes for Dr. Richard Newland and Jamie Insole, is expected to compete in 2026, while high-class sprinter Mitbaahy will run for Charles Hills. Audience, the G1 Lockinge Stakes 2024 winner, will return to Dubai under John and Thady Gosden.
Erwan Charpy, Head of Department, Racing Operations & International Relations for Dubai Racing Club, expressed excitement about the event. He said, “We are delighted to have acceptors for the Carnival from so many different countries. We are excited about welcoming so many Group 1 winners and high-class horses to Dubai over the next few weeks and wish everyone the best of luck with their planning and travel.”
The 2025–2026 Carnival is shaping up to be one of the most competitive and internationally diverse editions yet, with top trainers and horses competing across multiple high-profile races. The combination of strong entries, prestigious races, and global participation underlines Dubai’s position as a leading hub for international horse racing.
