Thailand’s Ministry of Education has unveiled a comprehensive digital safety initiative called “Edusafe School,” aimed at bolstering protection and emergency responses within schools nationwide. This initiative was formally launched at a ceremony in Bangkok on May 15, 2026, led by Education Minister Prasert Chantarawongthong.
In collaboration with over eighteen partner organizations, the Ministry signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance school safety and foster innovative, secure learning environments for students. Officials indicated that this agreement underscores the government’s commitment to prioritize student safety.
With the launch of the Edusafe School platform, quick emergency assistance is now more accessible via smartphones. In urgent situations, users can simply press an SOS button which will immediately connect them to Google Earth, relaying their exact location to a central response team for swift action.
The system can also capture audio information, providing direct communication to emergency responders who are available round-the-clock. This platform was designed not merely to report emergencies but also to extend broader support services to students, educators, and parents.
The Edusafe School system integrates with a Rights Protection Center, offering psychological support, legal assistance, and rehabilitation services through a centralized support network. Government officials are optimistic this initiative will enhance both physical and emotional security within educational settings.
The Ministry highlighted the increasing security challenges faced by schools today, which encompass violence, drug-related incidents, accidents, and online dangers. The newly established safety network is intended to bridge gaps in emergency responsiveness and foster better collaboration between educational institutions and governmental bodies.
Major stakeholders such as the Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Interior, Royal Thai Police, and the Equitable Education Fund are part of this collaboration. Together, these entities will focus on prevention strategies, emergency systems, and programs aimed at protecting students.
Education officials stressed that this initiative is centered on sustainable progress through multi-sector collaboration rather than relying solely on government funding. There is a hope that this technology-enhanced framework will cultivate safer educational spaces where students can thrive without fear.
The launch of the Edusafe School system marks a significant advancement in Thailand's drive to modernize educational safety through digital innovations. Officials anticipate this platform will enhance communication, expedite emergency responses, and strengthen the bonds between schools, families, and government entities.
