In a pioneering collaboration, Emirates and Marriott International are set to launch Emirates Wolgan Valley, the inaugural Ritz-Carlton Lodge, nestled in Australia’s stunning Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage area. This 40-key luxury retreat will be situated on a sprawling 7,000-acre conservation reserve and is slated for a mid-2026 opening, establishing a new standard in high-end eco-tourism.
Occupying less than 2% of the reserve, the lodge ensures an intimate connection with the environment. Guests will encounter unique wildlife, including the ancient Wollemi Pine, kangaroos, wombats, and wallabies, all beneath some of the clearest night skies on the planet.
Since 2006, Emirates has committed AU$150 million to the Wolgan Valley Resort, emphasizing heritage preservation and ecological sustainability, with over one million native trees planted. An additional AU$50 million is being allocated for the transformation into a premier Ritz-Carlton Lodge.
The luxury offerings will include 40 spacious lodges featuring private pools, a signature restaurant, a lounge bar, a wine room, an outdoor pool, tennis courts, equestrian stables, a fitness center, and The Ritz-Carlton Spa. A unique experience will also be available for guests to spend a night under the stars, complete with guided outdoor dining and a campfire gathering.
Guests can access the estate via four-wheel drive along Donkey Steps or by helicopter, enhancing the sense of adventure. This venture is projected to create approximately 150 local jobs and bolster the regional economy by supporting local supply chains.
Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates, expressed that the lodge epitomizes the airline’s devotion to luxury travel and community betterment. Rajeev Menon, President of Marriott International Asia Pacific, noted that this lodge signifies Ritz-Carlton’s entry into the global lodge sector, catering to affluent travelers seeking immersive nature experiences.
This lodge will further complement Ritz-Carlton’s presence in Australia, including its hotels in Perth and Melbourne, cementing the country's status as a premier luxury travel destination.
