His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has signed off on the reformation of the Emirates Health Services (EHS) Board of Directors, a crucial advancement in the UAE’s healthcare landscape.
Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh will spearhead this newly assembled board, with Dr. Yousif Mohammed Al Serkal, the Director-General of Emirates Health Services, stepping in as Deputy Chairman and Managing Director.
The board will also feature prominent figures including Sheikh Maktoum Butti Suhail Butti Al Maktoum from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dubai; Dr. Aisha Mohammed Abdullah Yaseen from Ras Al Khaimah Medical and Health Sciences University; Abdulwahab Al Halabi of Burjeel Holdings; Mohammed Omar Karim of Dubai Holding Group; and Nitin Khanna Kumar.
Emirates Health Services acts as a federal authority under the UAE Cabinet. It is committed to enhancing the overall efficacy of the federal healthcare framework and ensuring the provision of exceptional curative, preventive, and primary healthcare services nationwide.
Core functions involve creating and enforcing healthcare policies, developing standards, and overseeing federal hospitals and health facilities, all while boosting their operational effectiveness.
A key goal for Emirates Health Services is nurturing local healthcare talent, attracting top medical experts, enhancing professional skills, and promoting healthcare expertise throughout the UAE.
The authority is also responsible for adopting cutting-edge technologies and implementing digital healthcare solutions, leveraging artificial intelligence to align healthcare services with global best practices.
Moreover, Emirates Health Services is working towards qualifying federal hospitals and health centers as accredited educational institutions for medical training, while fostering research initiatives that advance the overall healthcare system in the nation.
The Board of Directors will be tasked with guiding the strategic vision of the authority, advocating policy proposals for Cabinet endorsement, and overseeing their execution. They will also sanction operational frameworks and regulations necessary for the authority’s efficiency and its healthcare facilities.
Additionally, the board will aid in developing a national health insurance architecture in cooperation with relevant governmental bodies, adhering to internationally recognized standards.
This new board is anticipated to bolster the UAE’s continuous efforts to elevate healthcare quality, encourage innovation, and reinforce the nation’s stature as a premier healthcare hub regionally and globally.
