Dubai to Host GITEX GLOBAL 2026 at Expo City with TechCation

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, and the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, preparations have begun to relocate GITEX GLOBAL and Expand North Star to their new home at Expo City Dubai. The prestigious international technology event will be held from 7th to 11th December 2026, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in Dubai’s global technology journey.

A Major Step for Dubai’s Vision

The move to Expo City Dubai aligns with the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to position Dubai among the world’s top three urban economies by 2033. GITEX GLOBAL’s new format will enhance Dubai’s role as a global innovation hub and strengthen its influence on international technology and business. The decision reflects Dubai’s continuous efforts to host world-class events that blend innovation, economy, and lifestyle.

Introducing the World’s First ‘TechCation’

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed directed the organisation of the world’s first and largest ‘TechCation’ experience at the event. TechCation is a unique concept combining technology and leisure, where the entire city becomes a hub of tech-related activities and entertainment. Through this concept, Dubai will blend technology, lifestyle, and tourism, creating an unforgettable experience for visitors from around the world.

Strengthening Dubai’s Global Appeal

GITEX GLOBAL 2026 will not only be a technology exhibition but also a lifestyle experience. The event will coincide with Dubai’s peak tourism season, allowing visitors to explore the city’s cultural, social, and entertainment attractions. This strategic timing ensures longer stays for tech leaders, investors, and professionals who will enjoy both the business and leisure opportunities that Dubai offers.

A Collaboration Across Industries

To ensure a complete experience, GITEX collaborates with the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, as well as entities representing sports, hospitality, eco-tourism, and wellness sectors. Together, they are designing citywide programmes and experiences that will transform Dubai into a living, connected hub of business and technology. This collaboration highlights the city’s ability to integrate technology with all aspects of life.

Aligned with Dubai’s Economic Agenda D33

GITEX TechCation supports the D33 vision, which aims to make Dubai a preferred destination for technology innovators, investors, and digital nomads. The city already offers an advanced infrastructure, strong global connectivity, and a safe environment that attracts global talent. Through initiatives like TechCation, Dubai is shaping itself into a hub where innovation meets lifestyle, helping drive sustainable growth.

Dubai’s Global Leadership in Innovation

Dubai continues to perform strongly in international rankings. In 2025, it ranked first globally in Greenfield FDI projects, attracting over US$11 billion in the first half of the year. The city also ranked first in the Savills Executive Nomad Index and second in the VisaGuide Digital Nomad Visa Index, reinforcing its appeal as a destination for global professionals. GITEX TechCation will further strengthen this position by bringing international tech communities together.

Expo City’s Grand Expansion

The 2026 edition of GITEX GLOBAL will be hosted at the Dubai Exhibition Centre in Expo City, which is undergoing a US$2.7 billion expansion. Once completed, it will become the largest purpose-built indoor events venue in the region. This state-of-the-art facility will provide a modern setting for the global tech community to connect, innovate, and share ideas. The expansion also reflects Dubai’s determination to continuously invest in its future as a leading events and business destination.

GITEX 5.0: A New Era of Innovation

The 2026 edition, referred to as GITEX 5.0, represents a bold evolution of the event. It aims to introduce new technologies, create global partnerships, and inspire innovative thinking across industries. The event will open with the GITEX Scale Summit, a platform for global leaders to discuss emerging trends, AI policies, and the future of digital economies. Following that, four days of exhibitions will showcase breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, biosciences, and advanced manufacturing.

For the first time in several years, GITEX GLOBAL and Expand North Star will reunite in one location, bringing together startups, investors, and major technology firms under a single roof. This integration will create a unified global platform for innovation, investment, and collaboration. The move reinforces Dubai’s status as the world’s most influential meeting point for technology, business, and creative ideas.

The relocation of GITEX GLOBAL to Expo City Dubai represents more than just a venue change — it marks a transformation in how global technology events are experienced. Through TechCation and D33-driven initiatives, Dubai is redefining the boundaries between innovation and lifestyle. As the city prepares to welcome global visitors in December 2026, it continues to demonstrate its readiness to lead the world into the next era of technological advancement.
