Thai PM Offers Support to Bangkok Crash Victims

Post by : Shakul

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited the victims of the tragic train-bus collision in Bangkok, ensuring that the government would offer extensive support and compensation to impacted families.

Accompanied by Deputy Transport Minister Siripong Angkasakulkiat, the Prime Minister toured Camillian Hospital on May 17, 2026, to meet with injured passengers who were being treated following the accident at the Makkasan railway crossing on Asoke-Din Daeng Road.

During the visit, officials provided fruit baskets and engaged with families of the patients, keeping tabs on the medical progress of those hospitalized after the incident. Authorities referred to the event as a tragedy that was entirely unforeseen.

Anutin directed all relevant agencies to swiftly undertake a thorough investigation into the accident’s causes. He stated that the outcomes would guide the introduction of enhanced safety protocols to avert similar railway crossing incidents in the future.

The government committed that both the State Railway of Thailand and the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority would collaborate to ensure compensation and medical assistance for victims and the families of those who lost their lives.

Deputy Minister Siripong confirmed that Transport Minister Pipat Ratchakitprakarn conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and mandated transport agencies to intensify safety measures at high-risk crossings nationwide.

Additionally, Siripong was tasked to visit injured individuals at Rajavithi Hospital, Phramongkutklao Hospital, and Ramathibodi Hospital to personally oversee their recovery and extend governmental support.

The latest official report, released at 11:00 AM, indicates that the collision led to 8 fatalities and 30 injuries. Victims are currently receiving medical care in various hospitals throughout Bangkok, with some had already been discharged after recovery.

Investigations into the train-bus collision are ongoing, and further updates will be made available as new information surfaces.
