The third edition of the Hatta Farming Festival is back, as announced by Dubai Municipality, as part of the ‘Dubai Farms’ initiative inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Located at Hatta Leem Lake, the festival will run until 1 February, uniting Emirati farmers, estate owners, and agri-businesses.
This festival is a highlight of the ‘Hatta Winter’ project by Brand Dubai and is linked to the #DubaiDestinations campaign, emphasizing Hatta’s agricultural and tourism potential. Its aim is to elevate Hatta as a cornerstone for agri-tourism and eco-tourism within the UAE.
This year's event features increased participation, showcasing specialized farms and innovative agricultural products, with both public and private sectors getting involved to aid People of Determination via workshops and activities. Such initiatives support Dubai’s commitment to young farmers and the agricultural industry.
Dubai Municipality has implemented support packages totaling AED 3.7 million for farmers in Hatta. These packages encompass fertiliser and seed provision, agricultural advisory services, pest management support, alongside three tourism and production projects utilizing advanced agricultural technologies.
Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, noted that the festival serves as a vital hub for farmers and local producers to connect with markets, obtain training, and receive advisory support. He emphasized the initiative's alignment with food security, sustainable agriculture, and community welfare.
Admission to the festival is free, featuring platforms for local agricultural sales, livestock competitions, training sessions, and also offers awards for both farmers and attendees. Hatta residents can participate without any fees, as temporary food activity permit fees are waived during the festival.
The Hatta Farming Festival fosters the collaboration of farmers, consumers, and supporting organizations to endorse sustainable agriculture, share knowledge, and celebrate local products while involving the community through various workshops and competitions, promoting a healthy, sustainable lifestyle in Hatta.
Dubai Municipality stated that this event mirrors its vision for a more sustainable and livable Dubai, empowering farmers, conserving biodiversity, bolstering the green economy, and enhancing living standards in the Hatta region.
