Key Lung Cancer Alarms: 3 Warning Signs You Can’t Ignore

Post by : Saif Al-Najjar

Lung cancer ranks among the most severe and life-endangering cancers. Timely detection is crucial, as effective treatment hinges upon early diagnosis. Dr. Tarang Krishna, a seasoned cancer surgeon and managing director at Cancer Healer Centre, has illuminated three significant warning signs of lung cancer that everyone should be aware of.

Contrary to common belief, lung cancer is not solely a smoker’s disease. Dr. Krishna cautions that non-smokers also face risks. Air pollution and exposure to passive smoke can incite lung cancer in individuals who have never smoked. He emphasizes, “Smokers need to be vigilant, but non-smokers aren’t exempt from risk.”

A cough persisting for weeks and escalating in intensity is a critical warning sign. Dr. Krishna points out, “If your cough lasts for two or three weeks and worsens, seeking medical advice is essential.” Overlooking a chronic cough can impede early diagnosis and timely treatment. Additionally, coughing up even a tiny amount of blood is a significant alarm. “Seeing blood in your cough is a major concern,” notes Dr. Krishna. Lung cancer may also lead to breathing difficulties or chest pain during everyday activities. He stresses, “Experiencing breathlessness or chest discomfort during routine tasks warrants immediate medical consultation.”

Lung cancer typically manifests symptoms only at advanced stages, enhancing its lethality. Identifying these signs early can facilitate prompt tests, diagnosis, and treatment, considerably boosting survival odds. Anyone facing a persistent cough, hemoptysis, or chest pain should take these symptoms seriously. Both smokers and non-smokers need to stay alert. Contacting a healthcare professional without delay is crucial for early identification and effective treatment of lung cancer.
