India Beat Pakistan But Denied Asia Cup 2025 Trophy

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The Asia Cup 2025 final ended with India defeating Pakistan in a one-sided contest. Rinku Singh struck the winning runs, sealing India’s ninth Asia Cup title, the most by any nation. The team’s performance was dominant, and they celebrated with joy on the field. However, the drama had only just begun as off-field controversies overshadowed India’s historic victory.

Victory Overshadowed By Delay

After the win, the Indian players gave interviews to broadcasters and expressed their happiness. Stars like Rinku Singh, Shubman Gill, and Kuldeep Yadav shared their emotions. Even bowling coach Morne Morkel praised the team’s performance. Viewers expected the trophy presentation to follow quickly. Instead, the broadcast cut away, and no ceremony took place even after midnight IST. Fans were left confused, and reports of internal issues began to spread.

Trophy Ceremony Turns Into Drama

The presentation stage was ready, but the Pakistani players did not appear on time. The Indian team waited while Pakistan stayed in their dressing room. ACC chief Mohsin Naqvi was seen on his phone, appearing tense. When Pakistan captain Salman Agha finally walked out with some teammates, they were met with loud boos from the crowd. Some players even walked casually in flip-flops, angering spectators further.

Rumors About Trophy Snub

Speculation grew when reports suggested that India did not want to accept the trophy from ACC chief Naqvi. The Indian camp preferred another official to hand over the cup. For a brief moment, it was decided that Khalid Al Zarooni, vice-chairman of Emirates Cricket Board, would do the honours. But in a shocking twist, plans changed again.

Presenter Announces Stunning Update

When the moment finally arrived, presenter Simon Doull shocked everyone. He announced that India would not be collecting their trophy that night. The Pakistan team collected their runner-up medals first, but their captain threw away the runner-up cheque in frustration. Soon after, Naqvi left the stadium with the trophy, leaving the Indian players empty-handed despite their win.

Indian Players Left Without Trophy

The victorious Indian squad had to return to their hotel without the silverware. The sight of champions sitting on the podium without the trophy stunned fans across the world. The act was called disrespectful and “disgusting” by many observers. It was an unprecedented low in cricketing history, with a champion team denied its rightful celebration.

Long List Of Tensions In Tournament

The Asia Cup 2025 had already been full of controversies between India and Pakistan. From the no-handshake saga to mocking gestures by Pakistani players, the tournament had been tense. Former cricketers also made sharp remarks, adding fuel to the fire. By the time of the final, tempers had already reached a peak, and the trophy fiasco only added to the bitterness.

Historic Rivalry Takes A Dark Turn

India and Pakistan cricketing rivalry is one of the most intense in sports. Past World Cups during times of political conflict showed the strain between the two nations. Yet, this edition of the Asia Cup reached new levels of hostility. The absence of a proper trophy ceremony after such a historic win will go down as one of the darkest chapters in tournament history.

India’s On-Field Glory Stands Tall

Despite all the drama, India’s cricket remains the central story. The team’s performance throughout the Asia Cup was dominant, and they deserved their ninth title. Rinku Singh’s winning shot, Shubman Gill’s runs, Kuldeep Yadav’s bowling, and the team’s unity stood out. While politics and management failures overshadowed the celebrations, India’s achievement on the field cannot be denied.
