New Delhi, Nov 15, 2025 – A recent investigation into the tragic car bomb attack near the Red Fort in Delhi has identified that Umar Nabi, the perpetrator, utilized over 2 kilograms of ammonium nitrate combined with petroleum and other explosive components, officials reported on Saturday. The incident, which transpired on November 10, resulted in 13 deaths and left more than 20 individuals injured, in addition to damaging numerous vehicles in the heavily populated area.
Investigative sources have characterized Umar Nabi as a proficient bomb maker. Forensic analysis has yielded over 52 samples of explosives from the site, showcasing the simplicity with which such dangerous devices can be fabricated within 5 to 10 minutes.
Reports indicate that Nabi entered a parking facility adjacent to the Red Fort at 3:19 PM, remaining there for upwards of three hours prior to the explosion of his Hyundai i20 at a traffic signal on Netaji Subhash Marg. This location is situated along the Red Fort and the vibrant Chandni Chowk area. Officials suspect that Nabi intended to detonate the bomb in the parking area but changed his plan after his associates were apprehended and a stash of explosives was unearthed in Faridabad.
Affiliated with Al Falah University in Faridabad, the Kashmiri doctor missed the opportunity to carry out his scheme, as the Red Fort was closed to visitors on Mondays. It has been suggested that the arrest of his accomplices, Muzammil Ahmad Ganaie and Shaheen Saeed, who were involved in an extensive investigation into a 'white-collar' terror group connected to Jaish-e-Mohammed and the al-Qaeda-associated Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, instigated his panic.
On the day of the blast, Jammu and Kashmir Police had reported the dismantling of an inter-state and transnational terror network, seizing 2,900 kilograms of explosives and arresting seven suspects. The connection between this attack and the disrupted terror group is currently under scrutiny.
The Red Fort explosion raises critical questions regarding security within densely populated areas of Delhi, illustrating the advanced methods employed by terror groups operating across state borders. Law enforcement personnel are calling for enhanced vigilance and greater coordination among intelligence agencies to mitigate future threats.
While forensic investigations proceed, officials are also pursuing the origins of the ammonium nitrate and petroleum used in the derived device, aiming to uncover any international affiliations with terror organizations. Ensuring public safety and effective crowd management is paramount, particularly in areas frequented by tourists such as Red Fort and Chandni Chowk.
This incident highlights the shifting strategies of terror groups in India and the persistent danger posed by global extremist networks. Authorities are advocating for community engagement and vigilance to avert any further incidents.
