The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in Qatar signed an important framework agreement with global data management leader, Informatica, during the MWC25 event in Doha. The agreement was signed by MCIT's Assistant Undersecretary for Infrastructure and Operations, Sami Mohammed Al Shammari, and Informatica's Vice President for Emerging Markets in the Middle East and Africa, Yasser Shouki.
This partnership is part of Qatar’s national efforts to develop a strong data ecosystem and strengthen the role of the country’s central database as a trusted source for accurate and reliable decision-making. Informatica was chosen as a strategic partner in coordination with the National Planning Council to support the government’s vision for digital transformation.
Al Shammari highlighted the ministry’s commitment to enhancing the country’s digital infrastructure. He stated that MCIT is focused on building the foundational pillars of the government’s digital systems, improving data governance efficiency, and modernizing operational environments. This includes adopting the latest technologies and innovative solutions, as well as building sustainable national capabilities to fully leverage data as a strategic resource for decision-making.
Ahmed Hassan Al Obaidly, Director General of the National Statistics Center at the National Planning Council, emphasized the agreement’s role in establishing an advanced governance layer. He explained that this framework will help unify national definitions and concepts, organize data flows among government entities, and improve the accuracy and quality of data. The agreement also aims to ensure consistent integration of data across government systems, positioning the central database as a unified national reference and trusted source for official information and statistics.
Al Obaidly added that this partnership supports Qatar’s National Data Strategy and contributes to creating an integrated national data governance framework. The agreement further strengthens Qatar’s efforts to treat data as a national and sovereign asset, supporting the country’s long-term goals under Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy. It also aims to enhance the quality of statistical outputs, which are vital for informed policy-making and public services.
Yasser Shouki from Informatica expressed pride in this strategic collaboration with the Qatari government. He said the partnership aligns with Qatar’s digital transformation journey, enabling government entities to unlock the full value of their AI-ready data through advanced tools for cataloging, integration, and governance.
Informatica’s solutions will allow Qatar to connect, manage, and unify its data efficiently while supporting cloud-based and AI-powered analytics. This cooperation highlights Qatar’s commitment to using cutting-edge technologies to create a modern, reliable, and integrated data ecosystem for government institutions.
Through this agreement, Qatar strengthens its position as a leader in digital transformation in the region, ensuring that government entities have access to high-quality, well-governed, and actionable data. The partnership also lays the groundwork for innovative digital services that improve efficiency, transparency, and decision-making across the public sector.
