Dubai Explosions, Airports Shut as Iran Attacks UAE

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Early Tuesday, loud explosions were reported across Dubai after the United Arab Emirates military intercepted Iranian missiles and drones targeting the country.

Authorities immediately shut down UAE airspace as a precaution, but later reopened it after confirming the threat was under control. Residents received missile alerts as defense systems worked to stop incoming attacks.

The escalation comes as Israel intensified its military operations, launching fresh strikes across Tehran and increasing attacks on Hezbollah in Beirut.

In the UAE, another drone strike caused a fire at an oil tank facility in Fujairah. No casualties were reported, but repeated attacks on energy sites are raising concerns.

The conflict has expanded across the region, with Iran launching missiles toward Israel and targeting U.S. bases and Gulf infrastructure. In Israel, missile debris fell in Jerusalem’s religious areas, highlighting the seriousness of the attacks.

The crisis has severely impacted global oil supply routes. The Strait of Hormuz, through which a large share of the world’s oil passes, is now under threat. Shipping activity has dropped sharply due to security risks.

Oil prices remain high, with Brent crude staying above $100 per barrel. This has increased pressure on global markets and raised fears of economic disruption.

Donald Trump has called on multiple countries to help protect the Strait of Hormuz by sending naval forces. However, no country has confirmed participation so far.

As tensions continue to rise, the Middle East faces an uncertain and dangerous situation with global consequences.
