Iranian Activist Narges Mohammadi Admitted to Hospital Amid Health Scare

Post by : Shakul

Narges Mohammadi, renowned Iranian human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner, has been admitted to a hospital due to a sudden decline in her health while incarcerated. This incident has sparked significant concern among her supporters and the global community.

Her foundation reported that Mohammadi lost consciousness on two occasions and experienced a serious cardiac episode. Medical professionals at the prison concluded that her condition required urgent care that could not be provided within the prison's facilities, prompting the transfer.

The health emergency transpired while she was detained in a Zanjan prison in northwestern Iran, where she fainted before being sought for critical medical aid.

Her legal representatives indicated earlier that Mohammadi may have been contending with heart problems since March; during a visitation, they noted she appeared frail, underweight, and needed help to move.

Mohammadi has been in detention since December after her arrest in Mashhad. She received a more than seven-year prison sentence in February for charges related to presumed actions against state security.

Her family has voiced deep concerns regarding her deteriorating health, asserting it has significantly worsened during her imprisonment. They allege that she endured physical mistreatment upon her arrest.

Following her health crisis, international focus has intensified. The Nobel Committee previously condemned what they termed serious mistreatment and urged for improved conditions for her.

The Iranian government has yet to publicly address the allegations put forth by her family and supporters concerning her treatment. The situation continues to be delicate and commands global scrutiny.

Ultimately, Narges Mohammadi’s case sheds light on persistent concerns regarding human rights and the treatment of prisoners. Her health condition is being monitored closely by advocates and organizations worldwide.
