Nissan Streamlines Models, Embraces AI Driving Solutions

Post by : Shakul

Nissan has rolled out a comprehensive global strategy aimed at refining its vehicle offerings while extensively incorporating artificial intelligence in its automobiles. This decision comes as part of a wider initiative to rejuvenate growth after facing numerous financial and operational hurdles.

The automaker plans to decrease its global model range from 56 to 45, concentrating on phasing out underperforming vehicles to bolster overall profitability. This streamlined approach positions Nissan favorably in crucial global markets.

CEO Ivan Espinosa presented the corporation's ambition to integrate AI-driven technology into 90% of its vehicles in the long run. This strategy is designed to improve safety, automation, and enhance the overall driving experience.

In alignment with its product strategy, Nissan introduced several new models, including a hybrid variant of the Rogue SUV (known as X-Trail in Japan) and an electric Juke model. These introductions underline the company’s dedication to hybrid and electric mobility solutions.

Nissan has ambitious sales targets, aiming for annual sales of 1 million vehicles each in the U.S. and China by 2030, alongside increasing domestic sales in Japan to 550,000 units.

The firm is also restructuring its operations, intending to shrink its global manufacturing presence and reduce its workforce by 15%. Concurrently, plans are underway to boost exports from China to regions including ASEAN, Latin America, and the Middle East.

Looking toward the future, Nissan is allocating resources to invest in advanced mobility technologies, such as autonomous driving systems and partnerships for robotaxi services. A pilot project for robotaxis in Tokyo is set to launch by 2026, signifying a substantial leap toward next-generation transportation solutions.
