The Sultanate of Oman has warmly welcomed the recent announcements by the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia recognizing the State of Palestine. This development has been described by Oman as a significant step in the ongoing international efforts to achieve a two-state solution and establish lasting peace and security in the region. The recognition by these prominent nations reflects growing global support for Palestinian statehood and highlights the importance of coordinated diplomatic efforts to address longstanding regional conflicts.

Call for Broader International Support

In an official statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Oman emphasized the need for other members of the international community to follow suit. The statement urged countries that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to take similar steps, underlining the importance of collective support in ensuring the Palestinian people can exercise their legitimate right to statehood. By encouraging broader recognition, Oman aims to strengthen the international framework supporting the creation of an independent Palestinian state and facilitate peace negotiations in the Middle East.

Oman reiterated that the recognition of Palestine is closely tied to the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent state within the 4 June 1967 borders. The Sultanate emphasized that Al Quds Al Sharqiya (East Jerusalem) should serve as the capital of this sovereign state. This stance reflects Oman’s consistent position on the Palestinian issue, which prioritizes justice, respect for international law, and the protection of Palestinian rights.
