India’s Air Force Strikes Pakistan in Operation Sindoor

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

India launched Operation Sindoor after the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 civilians. Air Chief Marshal AP Singh confirmed that the Indian Air Force conducted precision strikes against Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, targeting military and terror infrastructure.

Destruction of Pakistani Fighter Jets and Assets

The Indian Air Force successfully shot down four to five Pakistani fighter jets, including US-made F-16s and Chinese-built JF-17s. In addition, Indian forces reportedly destroyed a large aircraft, possibly an AEW&C plane, marking one of the longest surface-to-air kills over 300 km. Radar systems, command centers, runways, and hangars were also targeted.

Impact on Pakistani Air Bases

India struck multiple air bases, including Jacobabad and Bholari, destroying grounded aircraft and damaging military facilities. Advanced air defence systems, such as the S-400, protected Indian territory from Pakistani missiles and drones during the operation.

Neutralizing Terror Camps

Operation Sindoor also targeted nine terror camps, including bases linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. These strikes were designed to weaken Pakistan-backed terrorism and prevent future attacks on Indian civilians.

Pakistan’s Counterclaims Addressed

Pakistan claimed to have shot down Indian aircraft, including a Rafale, but the Indian Air Force dismissed these claims as propaganda. No evidence has been provided to support Pakistan’s statements.

Ceasefire Initiated by Pakistan

The Air Force chief stated that Pakistan requested a ceasefire after suffering heavy losses. This contradicts claims that foreign mediation, including by former US President Trump, was responsible. India maintains the ceasefire resulted solely from its successful operations.

Strategic and Global Significance

Operation Sindoor lasted nearly 100 hours and demonstrated India’s ability to conduct large-scale precision strikes while maintaining strong defence. The operation sent a clear message about India’s military capability and commitment to protecting its citizens from cross-border terrorism.

The operation highlighted India’s offensive and defensive capacities, showing that it can strike deep into enemy territory when provoked. The success of Operation Sindoor reinforces India’s role as a strong and vigilant regional power.
