Eight Injured in Seven-Vehicle Crash on PLUS Expressway

A major incident unfolded on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) near Gopeng, Perak, on Monday, leading to eight individuals being injured in a seven-vehicle crash. This collision involved a container lorry, two vans, and four cars, causing significant traffic delays.

Activation of Emergency Services

Emergency services were alerted via the MERS 999 system at 4:29 pm, prompting a swift response from firefighters at the Gopeng Fire and Rescue Station who rushed to the scene at Km291.

Victims Able to Exit Vehicles

Upon their arrival, rescuers confirmed that all individuals had managed to exit their vehicles safely before their arrival. This enabled the firefighters to concentrate on providing medical aid and ensuring road safety.

Details of the Vehicles Involved

The collision specifically included a container lorry, a Toyota Lite Ace van, a Toyota Hiace van, a Honda HR-V, a Perodua Bezza, a Perodua Axia, and a Toyota Vios. Investigations into the cause of the accident are still ongoing.

Injuries Reported

The lorry driver sustained minor injuries, while three individuals in the Toyota Lite Ace van were injured, two of whom were reported to be seriously hurt. Four passengers in the Toyota Hiace van also suffered minor injuries, while the occupants of the four other vehicles emerged unscathed.

Hospital Transport for the Injured

After receiving initial aid at the site, the injured individuals were handed over to Health Ministry personnel and subsequently transported to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Successful Completion of Rescue Efforts

Fire crews utilized a first-aid hose line to clear the area of debris and spilled oil, ensuring safety for other drivers. The clean-up concluded at 6:02 pm, with authorities declaring the roadway safe for traffic again.
