In response to issues with the Central Board of Secondary Education’s On-Screen Marking evaluation, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has acknowledged the discrepancies and vowed to implement strict measures against those accountable. This assurance follows student concerns regarding technical hitches and payment problems faced during the CBSE re-evaluation process.
During a meeting on Thursday at CBSE's New Delhi headquarters, Pradhan convened with officials to address complaints regarding the OSM system. The discussions revolved around errors identified in answer sheet verification and consequent delays related to the re-evaluation payment process.
The Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to student welfare, assuring that any found negligence or deliberate misconduct will not go unchecked. He stressed the importance of ensuring that administrative failures do not impact students’ futures.
Pradhan also pointed out the necessity for enhancing transparency and operational efficiency within CBSE’s digital assessment framework. While the On-Screen Marking was introduced to advance evaluation methods and minimize human errors, recent complaints have raised alarms among both students and their families.
During the meeting, officials reportedly sought to fortify technical oversight, improve grievance redress processes, and make the re-evaluation procedure more efficient. The review will likely include an assessment of whether software flaws or procedural oversights led to the current issues.
Political undertones emerged as Pradhan lashed out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, branding him as “frustrated” and opposing social advancement while defending the significant push for technological reforms in India’s educational landscape.
Amidst worries about the dependability of digital evaluation methods, parents and students nationwide have expressed their apprehensions regarding the reported inconsistencies. Experts in education indicate that the scenario underscores an urgent requirement for robust quality assurance and transparent auditing in tech-driven examination frameworks.
CBSE has reiterated its commitment to thoroughly review all complaints associated with the OSM process, promising corrective actions where warranted. The board remains steadfast in prioritizing the academic interests of its students.
This ongoing situation has reignited discussions around marrying technological progress with the operational readiness required in India’s educational framework, especially during the critical examination periods involving millions.
