President Droupadi Murmu Speaks to Odisha Assembly, Promotes State Growth

Post by : Raina Al-Fahim

Bhubaneswar: In a groundbreaking event, President Droupadi Murmu addressed the Odisha Legislative Assembly at the start of the winter session this evening. During her speech in Bhubaneswar, she urged assembly members to work with commitment to enhance the lives of citizens and build a prosperous Odisha by 2036, coinciding with the state's centenary celebration.

Highlighting Odisha's wealth of natural and human resources, President Murmu stressed the state's potential to emerge as a leader in India's development landscape. She encouraged lawmakers to prioritize equitable growth and enact policies benefiting all segments of society.

Reflecting on her political beginnings, President Murmu noted that addressing the Odisha Assembly was a profoundly sentimental experience. She first entered politics as a legislator in this very Assembly nearly 25 years ago. Her visit included a tour of the chamber where she began her journey, recalling her early political days. The President expressed her appreciation for the Odisha Legislative Assembly's pivotal role in shaping her ascent to the nation's highest constitutional office.

This event marked a historic milestone, with President Droupadi Murmu becoming the first incumbent President of India to address the Odisha Legislative Assembly. Her visit was not solely a point of pride for the assembly but also a celebration of Odisha's continuous progress and development.

With a vision for a strong, prosperous, and citizen-focused Odisha, President Murmu encouraged lawmakers to prioritize developmental initiatives, enhance governance, and ensure that growth benefits reach every part of the state. Her speech served as a poignant reminder of Odisha's rich history, vast potential, and the crucial role its lawmakers play in creating a brighter future.
