Qatar Air Defences Intercept Iranian Missiles, Drones

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Qatar’s Ministry of Defence announced that the country’s air defence systems successfully intercepted multiple aerial threats after Iran launched ballistic missiles and drones on Wednesday.

In an official statement, the ministry confirmed that the Qatari Armed Forces detected and engaged several incoming threats targeting the country’s airspace. According to the statement, nine aerial threats were intercepted during the operation.

Out of these, eight ballistic missiles were successfully destroyed by Qatar’s air defence systems before they could reach their intended targets. One missile, however, fell in an uninhabited area without causing any reported damage or casualties.

The Ministry of Defence stated that the operation was carried out using Qatar’s integrated air defence network, which is designed to protect the country’s airspace, critical infrastructure and civilian areas from external threats.

Authorities emphasised that the swift interception demonstrates the effectiveness and readiness of Qatar’s defence systems in responding to potential security threats. Officials continue to monitor the situation closely.
