The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), together with World Athletics and the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), has launched the “Aim Beyond” project to support youth and underserved communities through the power of sport. The announcement followed an agreement signed by QOC Secretary General Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain and QFFD Director General Fahad Hamad Al Sulaiti, in the presence of World Athletics CEO Jon Ridgeon.
As part of this global project, 11 modern, eco-friendly, and inclusive running tracks will be built in 11 countries, including Palestine, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, the Cook Islands, Panama, Anguilla, Dominica, Burundi, Tanzania, and Ukraine. These tracks are designed to support athletes of all abilities and use sustainable materials, reflecting Qatar’s commitment to development and community growth.
Qatar says the project shows its strong belief that sport can support peace, unity, and social progress. The new tracks will not only help young athletes improve their skills but also serve as community spaces that promote equality and a sense of belonging. Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain said the Aim Beyond project will give young athletes the chance to go beyond their limits, just as Qatar did during the Doha 2019 World Athletics Championships, and ensure that this sporting legacy continues to inspire future generations.
QFFD Director General Fahad Hamad Al Sulaiti said the project will open new opportunities for youth by offering accessible facilities that help develop talent and build brighter futures. World Athletics CEO Jon Ridgeon added that many communities have talent but lack proper facilities, and Aim Beyond will help close this gap through strong partnerships. He said the initiative will extend the legacy of the Doha 2019 championships far beyond Qatar and support young athletes across the world.
